Hundred Days
Crystallion Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It's the end we've lost it all
There's no chance for us to break these walls
On this battleground we fall
Plancenoit lost our foes are standing tall

We will never get out of this war alive - no surrender
They will never get out of this war alive
No more soldiers left to fall
Bravest men followed the nation's call
What I did I did for France
I have failed there is no second chance

I will never make it to the new world's shores - I surrender
Captain lay me in chains I will flee no more

Send him off to the shores of the island afar
For those who have died
100 days of his tyranny come to an end
There's nowhere to hide

Rise up, we have beaten the French
A time of peace has just begun

Gone to the end of the world
Seems we've reached the end of it... all

Overall Meaning

The first stanza of Crystallion's "Hundred Days" presents a picture of defeat and hopelessness. The singer suggests that everything has fallen apart, and there's no way for them to overcome the walls that have been placed before them. He symbolically refers to a battleground where they are falling and their enemies are standing tall. In essence, the singer suggests that the war is lost, and they will never come out alive. The second stanza of the song suggests that they have no more soldiers left to fall, and the bravest men have all answered to the call of their nation. However, even though the singer did everything for France, he has failed, and there's no second chance.

The third stanza of the song suggests that the French captain should be taken to the shores of an island afar, and there's no hiding from the tyranny that has plagued them for 100 days. However, the fourth stanza presents a shift in tone as the singer indicates that they have beaten the French and a time of peace has just begun. They have gone to the end of the world, and it seems they've reached the end of it all. The song is a poignant reflection of the battle of Waterloo, which occurred on June 18, 1815. Even though the battle had taken place more than 200 years ago, the song manages to evoke a sense of loss, defeat, and resilience that is still relevant in contemporary times.
