In 1995, Jean Michel, Nono and Christian left their previous band, Seventeen. The 3 guys had already noticed Declan singing in pubs in Cork and were impressed, but the band didn’t get together then. The O’Shea brothers went to work in Euro Disney in France, but luckily on one of their home journeys the lads finally got together. Cyclefly was formed. At first the band was called Dogabone, and they released a EP in 1995 under this name. It was in 1997 that they changed their name to Cyclefly after being inspired by one of Declan’s paintings.
In 1999, Cyclefly released their debut album, Generation Sap and made their live debut at Whiskey on the Sunset Strip. In 2002 their second album, Crave, was released.
Christian and Declan Set up "Mako." and released their debut album "Living on Air" in 2010

Star
Cyclefly Lyrics

Causing through my veins
Releasing all the mental strain
So many things to do, so many things to say
Wallowing in my pride, waiting another day
And I feel that nothings gonna to change
Believe that, and wash away your pain
So many times i've tried, eating me up inside
No I dont need, your dignity
It couldn't stop me, you'll see
And I dont care, I wasn't there
It couldn't block me, you'll see
No I don't need, your dignity
No I don't mind, I couldn't find
Like a star, too far
Like a star, too far
Star, Star, Star, Star, Star, Star, Star
Star, Star
The lyrics to Cyclefly's song "Star" convey a sense of frustration and a yearning for change. The opening lines set the tone for the rest of the song - "I can feel it/Causing through my veins/Releasing all the mental strain." The singer feels a sense of release and relief, but also acknowledges that there are still "so many things to do" and "so many things to say." The song then delves into a sense of feeling stuck or trapped, with lines like "And I feel that nothings gonna to change/Believe that, and wash away your pain" and "so many times i've tried, eating me up inside/So many times i've thought, reason I wasn't born." The singer then asserts their independence and their refusal to let anyone or anything stand in their way - "No I don't need, your dignity/It couldn't stop me, you'll see/And I dont care, I wasn't there/It couldn't block me, you'll see."
The repetition of the word "Star" throughout the song adds to its sense of urgency and intensity, as if the singer is reaching for something just out of reach. The use of the metaphor of a star that is "too far" also emphasizes the sense of frustration and a desire to break free.
