Roxanne
Roxanne
Roxanne
Oh Man
I'm Sorry for you
Cuz I adore you
So many song are for you
But I don't know ya
Stacy
Stacy
Stacy
Crazy
About your mother
She is like no other
We took her from you
But I don't know you
Lovely ladies
On a mystery machine
We sing about you
In our dreams
Lovely ladies
Names so sweet
Your life's a chorus
But what does it mean
Jolene
Jolene
Jolene
Time Machine
Where to start
Lips cherry tart
We see the stars
But we're worlds apart
Oh
Valerie
Valerie
Valerie
Can't you see
Your name is ours
Play your song for hours
We sing in showers
But we're worlds apart
Lovely ladies
On a mystery machine
We sing about you
In our dreams
Lovely ladies
Names so sweet
Your life's a chorus
But what does it mean
Lovely ladies
Template girls
We fill your gaps with
The realness of the world
Oh
Empty ladies
Blueprint sheets
We say up your names
To make us feel complete
Lovely ladies
On a mystery machine
We sing about you
In reality
Lovely ladies
Names so sweet

Your life's a chorus
But what does it mean

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of D.C. And Company's song "Lovely Lady" seem to be a reflection on the fascination with and idealization of women, portrayed through various names like Roxanne, Stacy, Jolene, and Valerie. The repetition of these names throughout the song serves to emphasize their significance and evoke a sense of longing or admiration. The singer expresses feelings of admiration and adoration towards these women, even though they may not personally know them, highlighting an element of fantasy or unattainability in their perception of these "lovely ladies."

As the lyrics progress, the song delves deeper into the complexity of these women's identities. References to mothers and a sense of mystery evoke a sense of depth and intrigue surrounding these women, suggesting that they represent more than just superficial beauty or charm. The mention of a "mystery machine" further adds to the enigmatic nature of these women, hinting at a sense of wonder and fascination that the singer experiences in their dreams.

The song also touches on themes of distance and separation, as the singer acknowledges the divide between themselves and the women they sing about. Despite singing about these women and immersing themselves in fantasies involving them, there remains a palpable sense of disconnect or unattainability, as indicated by lines like "but we're worlds apart." This highlights the bittersweet nature of idolizing or idealizing someone from afar, unable to bridge the gap between fantasy and reality.

Towards the end of the song, there is a shift in perspective as the lyrics mention "empty ladies" and "template girls," suggesting a realization of the limitations of idealized representations of women. The singer acknowledges the need to find realness and completeness beyond just superficial admiration, hinting at a deeper yearning for genuine connection and understanding. The final lines of the song pose a thought-provoking question about the meaning behind these "lovely ladies," prompting contemplation on the significance of women's roles and identities beyond mere symbols or archetypes.

Aiden Gallagher's acting is completely in lockstep with the adults, he does such a great job in this show

@anthonyzullo

Uhm, after going through all hes achieved by the age of 17, I would whole heartedly consider him an adult. Dont know what hes accomplished, treat yourself and then go back and watch the show and see how completely different he is as a person to who is on screen. Im assuming he particularly loves playing this character since he rarely if ever gets to act that way in his personal life. Id love to have a beer with the dude though.
