They're gonna say shut up and buy
We're here to warn you
They're gonna say buy or die
Corporate scam charade
Business is on parade
Corporate scam charade
Crumbs for the poor
Rich man's profits soar
Government by the rich
Poor man's life a bitch
Don't believe what the
politicians do
Don't believe a word they say
All they wanna do is fuck you
Get fat on their pay
The lyrics to D.C. Anderson's song "Parade" revolve around a critical commentary on corporate greed, government corruption, and the manipulation of the working class by those in power. The song begins by addressing the audience, indicating that they are here to give a warning. The first warning is that society will pressure individuals to conform and prioritize consumerism over independent thought or action.
The lyrics then highlight the existence of a corporate scam charade, where businesses parade their products and services, appealing to people's desires and manipulating them into buying. This capitalist system is criticized for its unequal distribution of wealth, as the poor are left with mere crumbs while the profits of the rich soar. The government is depicted as being controlled by the rich, leading to a difficult life for the poor, amplifying the sentiment that the playing field is unfairly tilted.
The lyrics also express the need for skepticism towards politicians, suggesting that their promises and actions should not be blindly trusted. The belief is that politicians are primarily focused on personal gain and power, ready to exploit and take advantage of the general population. The lyrics convey a call for awareness, urging people to see beyond the façade and not allow themselves to be manipulated by the powerful entities in society.
