Changes
D.J. Mash Up Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

[Bridge:]
If I ever give you all of me (if I ever)
Just a piece of me that you can see
Will you ever make a change for me?
A change in you is a change for me, baby

[Verse 1:]
I said you ought to make a change
Find a way to love yourself
Open up your heart and mind
In there, you will find
The key to a new life

[Chorus:]
The words "I'm sorry"
Are said a thousand times
But what's it going to take
For you to change your life around?
If you truly want to be happy
Then recognize in yourself
There's a true gift from life
The truth in life
It just a piece of me that you can see
Will you ever make a change for me?
Change in you is a change for me (oh yes)

[Verse 2:]
Take a longer look at yourself
Find the hidden truth and let it exhale
Let me lead the way (uh oh oh oh)
Can you evasion all the things that I see? (oh oh)

[Chorus 2x]

Overall Meaning

The Bridge of DJ Mash Up's "Changes" asks a powerful question, "Will you ever make a change for me?" implying that although love may be unselfish, it takes two people to make a relationship work, and both parties need to adjust themselves to bring stability to the romance. The song encourages that if one truly wants to be happy, then they need to recognize that there's a true gift from life: the truth in life. The lyrics of the song urge the listener to find a way to love themselves by opening up their hearts and minds. By doing so, they can discover the key to a new life. The lyrics also implore that the act of saying "I'm sorry" or pleading for forgiveness a thousand times is not enough to make a meaningful difference; a more significant change is necessary to bring real salvation.

In verse one, the song highlights the importance of changing oneself to find a healthier and happier life. The lyrics suggest that we should look inside ourselves to initiate this change. Verse two reiterates the same message, but this time the lyrics emphasize the need to take a longer look at oneself and find the hidden truths that have been shoved aside. The song encourages the listener to let the singer lead the way, as the singer has seen that such transformation can lead to a better life. The singer wants the listener to see what she sees and let go of the baggage to embrace a life-changing metamorphosis.

Never really saw rap as a genuine regard to music genre and I heard this years ago and regarded it as just another cover, but now I really really listen, beautiful really beautiful xx

I'm really glad you found this, rap has been the voice of the unheard for years and Tu Pac was seriously a voice of a generation. His lyrics although rough were a reflection of a huge part of America, it was just raw and unfiltered, because of frustration. He has a interview that explains it so well, he says (I'm paraphrasing) If a poor person knocks on a door and asks for food, the first day they will sing with hope and be very nice about it, but after 2 or 3 days the song they sing will become more aggressive and after 5 or 6 days it will become what people deem hardcore rap.

here is the interview name:
