I give God all the glory for my recovery
I credit my recovery to God and acknowledge that He deserves all the praise for it

I wasted time ignoring what was right in front of me
I foolishly overlooked the things that were clear and obvious to me

What a discovery
It was a remarkable realization

The old me was a covering
My former self was a mask or a disguise

I'm made new addiction no longer smothers me
I have been transformed and freed from the grip of addiction

I'm always sober when I kiss my daughter
I am always clear-minded and present when I show affection to my daughter

Praise God my son only knows his faithful father
I thank God that my son only knows me as a dependable and trustworthy father

I used to stay tired from treading in something stagnant now
I used to feel exhausted from being stuck in a stagnant situation

I'm back-stroking in this living water
Now, I am freely moving and thriving in the refreshing and life-giving water

That's joy from the wells of salvation
I experience deep joy that comes from the source of salvation

It's confidence in a rock solid foundation
It is a firm belief and trust in a strong and unshakable base

Even when temptation's in the conversation
Even when temptation is being discussed or present

My contemplation is led and focused on Galatians
I direct my thoughts and reflections towards the teachings of Galatians

2:20 with Christ I've been crucified
By being united with Christ, I consider myself as having been crucified

I no longer live
My former way of life no longer defines me

Here's where desire ends
This is the point where my longing or craving ceases

I'm so supplied with sin my king divides the size of it
I have more than enough sin in my life, but my King, Jesus Christ, diminishes its impact and power

My lies helped me hide and then He guided me to die to them
My deceitful ways allowed me to conceal, but Jesus led me to relinquish them completely

I find serenity in my identity in Christ
I discover peace and calmness in my true self as a follower of Christ

I won't be classified by the things that I survived
I refuse to be defined solely by the hardships I have overcome

I have a new name on a stone that's hidden from sight
I possess a new identity that is not yet fully revealed or recognized by others

Not to be revealed until I'm with Him and truly alive
This new name will remain undisclosed until I am in the presence of God and truly living

Unruly to pride
I reject and rebel against pride

I pray to stumble keep me humble
I pray that if I falter, it will serve as a reminder to remain humble

There's no transformation living in a bubble
Genuine transformation cannot occur when one isolates themselves from the world

I used to crave spirits and it got me into trouble
I used to have a strong desire for alcoholic beverages, which caused me problems

Now the holy spirit's the portion I need so make it a double
Currently, I long for the presence and guidance of the Holy Spirit, so I crave an abundant measure of it

Purpose in the struggle
There is meaning and intent behind the challenging circumstances I face

Put your verses in my verses
Align your words and teachings with mine

Let you underneath the surface so you have my heart and search it
Allow yourself to delve deeper to truly understand and examine my heart

I'm fervent in my spirit to forever be your servant
I am passionate and dedicated in my soul to serve you eternally

And to slowly show there's freedom for the addicts in our churches
Furthermore, it is my aim to gradually demonstrate that there is liberation for those struggling with addiction within our religious communities

Whatever your hurt is just know that you are worth it
No matter what pain you are experiencing, understand that you hold value and deserving of healing

You are worth it you are worth it you are worth it
Repeated confirmation that you are truly deserving and valuable

I'll forever sing it 'til every person is certain
I will continue to proclaim it with everlasting zeal until every individual is convinced

Things aren't always perfect but Jesus is always working
Although life may not always be flawless, Jesus is consistently active and involved
