As the name may suggest, they were originally a six member band. Junhyeok (keyboard, vocals) departed in February 2016. Jae (lead guitar, vocals; also active as eaJ) departed the group on December 31st 2021.

The lyrics of DAY6's "행복했던 날들이었다 days gone by" speak about reminiscing the past and the happy days they spent with a loved one.
