War
DJ Clue Lyrics

Yeah
Dj Clue
Desert Strom
New Nas
It's called war

Yeah, yeah
Squinted-eye gangsta, live in a skyscraper
Platinum Patron-drinker, stacking that grown paper
God pushed me out his nuts
The Devil swallowed me up, I burnt a hole in his guts
Fell down into a Louis Vitton truck
With stash boxes, and niggas in it saying blast Nas shit
Drove down harm's way, puffing that Bombay
QB thug tattoo on my arm say
Names of my fam, so I'mma read you a scripture
And commandments to get you richer
Bandannas, hammers, MAC's and NINA's
With the mismatched Pumas, like Shan in Queensbridge
All white shell toes, that's that Queens thing
Breitling, ice wine, call that weed sling
Know where G slang
And the bitches with bomb ass that slurp on me and my comrades
Got a new contract, come on, black
Shit y'all just getting up on, I'm beyond that
No time for crumbs, I really don't see them
They just started living, just started having threesomes
Just started having girls who like them
That's why I got married cause my world ain't like them

So why they keep telling those stories?
Nigga, y'all square, nigga, this is my year, nigga

Overall Meaning

The song "War" by DJ Clue featuring Nas talks about the turmoil, chaos and uncertainty of life on the streets. The lyrics are a reflection on the reality of a life where war is taking place, and the people are feeling frightened and unsure of their future. The rapper gives a clear picture of the kind of life he has lived with the descriptive words he uses to paint the picture of the streets at night. He talks about the importance of keeping a clear mind and trusting in God to lead him through the struggles. In the chorus, he finds solace in knowing that God has his back and they will be alright.

Nas starts by describing his Brooks Brothers overcoat and his silk tie, which is a clear indication of a well-dressed businessman. He describes his gun as a silver fo'-fo', indicating his preparedness for any challenge that may arise. He shares how he caught a glimpse of himself in the Barney's shop window and saw his father's features creeping in, indicating a familial connection to the streets. The rapper goes on to describe his journey to success, from having an office on Broadway to doing business in Jamaica. His focus has shifted to his family, and he urges his daughter to work hard to get into the best schools.

Later, Nas goes on to talk about his relationship with his baby mama, which he describes as too young, too strung, too much flashing. He describes some of the anger and violence that ensued, where he cursed like a sailor and burst out of the crib. Despite the challenges, he takes responsibility for his actions and moves back to his grandma, where he focuses on his music, chart-toppers and hard-bottoms. His new woman is great, and he marvels at the chemistry between her and his little girl.

Derrell Rose Honestly I had found this on a mixtape on YouTube, but forgot the name track and couldn’t find it, anymore. Just happened to luckily come across this vid looking for another one, so I’ll cut ‘em some slack. lol

TriplomatX

This album really just dropped without much buzz, even the lead single "Thug it Out" with Jadakiss wasn't pushed and that song is hard. this was one of those albums that could have been Platinum Plus with alot of how great the tracks were.
