The emerging interest for the Latin American music in Europe was one factor in the acceptance and music like this Chilean market as closed as the Scandinavian market, which until recently were only local artists and popular English-speaking. Méndez moved to Stockholm, Sweden, in 1986. He was raised in a modest family struggling to achieve a better future, sometimes getting in trouble while walking around immigrant slums. After joining a counseling institution called Fasta and meeting sound engineer Jordi Fuste, DJ Méndez started his career as a Latin rapper, making his live debut in a local festival. Mixing hip-hop and traditional Latin American rhythms, he was able to get a record deal in 1999, soon climbing charts in Sweden, Norway, Scandinavia, Denmark, Finland, and even Russia with his first hit "Chiki-Chiki", featured in his debut album Latino for Life. In March 2001 he visited his native country, carrying out a successful promotional tour.
His songs in Spanish with a mixture of English, was produced in conjunction with the popular DJ's Rob'n'Raz, have melodic choruses made by singers such as Emmanuel Contreras, Martin Thors, Pablo Javier Gonzalez Cepeda or (better known as Yei) choristers who were both in their studio recordings and in each of the live performances he does. Today is one of the best representatives of Chilean rap and hip-hop and one of the Chilean artists with greater international influence. Has accomplished many milestones and participated in several music festivals, highlighting 1 Award MTV Video Music Awards Latinoamérica Awards and 1 MTV Europe Music Awards, second place in Melodifestivalen Sweden 2002, the gull of gold in the Song Festival of Viña del Mar, participation in the famous festival Son Latinos in the Canary Islands, Spain with 350,000 people, a concert for more than 250,000 people in Red Square in Moscow, Russia, and participation to more than 100,000 people in La Pampilla of Coquimbo. He is currently managing his own label, Macabro Records, where he supports young emerging music, and together with his brother, DJ eMe, own school of DJ's largest in Scandinavia, Dj Macabre School.
In 2009, Méndez is working in his upcoming album and the first single of the album titled "Lady" was recently released on radios in Chile.

Maybe he like to brag
Did he invent himself
He live 'till the end of time
Oh, Mýnchhausenwas a sun of a gun
He had his share of wild adventures
He rode the cannonball like no other man
And pulled himself up in the air
Whether he liked to brag
He lives 'till the end of time
With his immortal lies
Oh, Mýnchhausen took a trip to the moon
And beat the sultan and his navy
With a company containing just five
He gunned them down just by himself
Such a special baron man Mýnchhausen
He spread chaos around the world
Just chaos
Maybe he liked
to brag, but his tales were captivating and enduring. "Chiki Chiki" by DJ Méndez features a reference to the legendary Baron Mýnchhausen, a German nobleman who allegedly told outrageous stories about his exploits during his service in the Russian army in the 18th century. The lyrics describe his larger than life persona, his incredible feats of bravery and cunning, and his tendency to exaggerate or fabricate the truth. Despite his questionable reputation, Mýnchhausen remains a cultural icon and a source of fascination for generations of readers and artists.
The song's chorus repeats the phrase "just chaos" as a nod to Mýnchhausen's penchant for stirring up trouble wherever he went. The verses recount some of his most famous escapades, such as riding a cannonball or defeating an army with only five soldiers. The lyrics suggest that Mýnchhausen enjoyed the attention and admiration that came with his exploits, even if his stories were not entirely truthful. By referencing his immortality and his ability to live on through his tall tales, the song implies that the myth of Mýnchhausen will never die.
