Fred assigned specific roles to both himself and the artist.

I said, 'Yo Fred, I think you've got me all wrong.
The singer responded to Fred with a statement of disagreement.

I ain't partners with NOBODY with nails that long!
The singer expressed disdain for people with long nails, rejecting the idea of collaboration with Fred.

Look, I'll be honest man, this team won't work.
The singer was straightforward with Fred about their reservations regarding their proposed partnership.

The girls won't be on you, Fred your face is all burnt!'

Fred got mad and his head started steamin'

I patted him on the shoulder said, 'Thanks for stopping by.'

Tried to get me, but my alarm went off
Fred's attempt to harm the artist was interrupted by the ringing of the artist's alarm clock.

And then silence! It was a whole new day
After the alarm stopped ringing, a new day began and the artist's ordeal came to an end.

I thought, 'Huh, I wasn't scared of him anyway.'
Despite the frightening experience, the artist reflected upon it and realized that they hadn't been as scared as they initially thought.

Until I noticed those rips in my sheets
The singer discovered physical evidence of what had occurred on their bed sheets.

And that was proof that there had been a nightmare, on my street
The torn sheets served as evidence that the artist had experienced a nightmare while in their own home.
