Man these artists and their re-branding or dippin into different genres when they run out of ideas. They can take a break build up the suspense and return with a new album later (like Adele did recently).

I sucked my teeth when I heard Snoop changed his name at the time, stupid gimmick.

Maluma's Agua de Jamaica album is a similar ting like Snoop Dogg. Colombia has so much musical genres to pull from / sample from but him and J Balvin (who did Perra ft Tokischa, lord ha' mussy) jump to JA and DR respectively for inspiration. Recently Maluma re-released / covered Rayvanny's (Tanzanian singer) song Tetema.

Urgh and these recent remixes in Afrobeats songs - Ed Sheeran jumped on Fireboy's Peru, Justin Bieber jumped on Wizkid's Essence. In a way the remixes and features are not as bad as the plagiarism of yesteryear, e.gs:

Rum & Coca Cola - original by Lord Invader; Cover and more popular version by Andrew Sisters
Police & Thieves - original by Junior Murvin; Cover and more popular version by The Clash
I shot the Sheriff - original by Bob Marley and the Wailers; Cover and popularized by Eric Clapton
Who let the dogs out - original by Anslem Douglas; Cover and popularized by Baha Men

Oh lawd lemme not get started on de K-pop/J-pop styles that tief from we too, sigh.

@Armand Helaire you know doo wop is interesting.

In the US one can speculate that rock and roll and other genres were derivatives of doo wop.

Doo wop performed by JA artists, based on the volume of recordings was not as popular, however one can argue that Doo Wop influenced ska/reggae.

So one genre Doo Wop may have spawned different genres in the US distinct from genres in JA (and maybe in other regions that had access to doo wop music).

But doo wop is distinct in the vocal harmonizing. I prefer a cappella doo wop. I see a similarity in the male dominated doo wop genre and the female trio groups of the 1940s like the Andrew sisters. Modern doo wop (without the doo wopping) could be groups like Boys II Men, 112, New Edition. I could be wrong.

For the most part though reggae/soca/dancehall/calypso/salsa/zouk etc artists stick to their genre of expertise.

The great thing about ADHD is that I forget that every Thursday there is a new Foreign video, so I’m always excited and surprised when Thursday comes 😂

@DrewSpeedDemon I'm not sure how this pertains to neurodivervence but that behavior is indicative of severe brain impairments; like trauma or birth defect. The function you referred to is called object permanence and human brains develop enough to accomplish it between 1 and 2 years old. I guess if you can't fathom permanence, then death becomes something that people can return from - how fascinating to know an adult with no capacity to comprehend permanence. The human brain is truly incredible... now I'm going to be wondering what that must be like for the rest of the day.

The "Blade's son, pocketknife" joke just killed me, strung me up, butchered me, and served me to the scavengers at a wildlife refuge. Good job.

@Foreign Man in a Foreign Land oh jesus hiphop and rap did not come from jamaica or dancehall.

TrueYellowDart

Yup, stopped the video to make a comment about this too. Not the whole “circle of life” thing you added (although that was funny too) but that pocketknife shit was great.

Your storytelling is too damn good, so easy to visualize and feel aware of what was going on, like a Dungeon Master. I could hear that cop’s butthole clench. 12:02 LOL
