Look At Me
DJ T-Rock & Squashy Nice Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Just let you leave without a trace?
When I stand here taking every breath with you, ooh ooh
You're the only one who really knew me at all
How can you just walk away from me
When all I can do is watch you leave?
'Cause we've shared the laughter and the pain
You're the only one who really knew me at all
So take a look at me now
Well there's just an empty space
And there's nothing left here to remind me
Just the memory of your face
Take a look at me now
Well there's just an empty space
And you coming back to me is against the odds
And that's what I've got to face, oh
I wish I could just make you turn around
Turn around and see me cry
There's so much I need to say to you
So many reasons why
You're the only one who really knew me at all
So take a look at me now
Well there's just an empty space
And there's nothing left here to remind me
Just the memory of your face
Take a look at me now
Well there's just an empty space
But to wait for you is all I can do
And that's what I've got to face
Take a good look at me now
'Cause I'll still be standing here
And you coming back to me is against the odds
And it's what I've got to face
Take a look at me now
The song "Look At Me" by DJ T-Rock & Squashy Nice delves into the feelings of heartbreak and loss, as well as the struggle of trying to move on from a past relationship. The lyrics express the singer's inability to let their partner go and their longing for that person who truly understood them.
The first verse portrays the internal conflict of the singer, questioning how they can just let their partner walk away without a trace when they were so deeply connected. The singer acknowledges that their partner was the only one who truly knew them. This highlights the level of intimacy and understanding they had, making it difficult to accept the separation.
The chorus emphasizes the emptiness that remains after the partner leaves. There is nothing tangible left, except for the memory of their face. The singer is left with this void, unable to move on and still longing for their presence. The repetition of "take a look at me now" reflects the desperation to be seen and understood by the partner, despite the odds and the reality that they may never return.
The second verse explores the singer's desire for their partner to turn around and notice their pain. They express their need to communicate and share the reasons why they are hurting, emphasizing once again that the partner was the only one who truly knew them. However, all they can do is wait, as the odds of the partner coming back are slim.
Overall, "Look At Me" captures the raw emotions of heartbreak and the struggle to let go. It highlights the longing to be seen, understood, and reunited with a person who played a significant role in one's life.
