I think it's a MASSIVE step down from ac Odyssey. Odyssey is still bt FAR the peak of modern ac.

I do not understand who the fuck this was for. These games stopped selling for good reason. Fans BEGGED for a change, tney BEGGED them to STOP with old school ac and expand it.

Odyssey had better combat, better rpg mechanics, better diolgue options, branching paths, more depth in content, way more content of a larger variety and DENSER. Which is insane given this game is a 20th the size witb WAYYY less density in content snd less variety.

Its just dumbed down ac. The stealth was dumbed down. Tf happened to the multiple alert states and hiding bodies snd all that hitman shit Odyssey added?

Ac Odyssey literally had more stealth, better stealth, and WAYY mlre reason to do stealth cause combat was actually hard.

They also kust copy pasted abilities from Odyssey. The ghost assinations are literally moves from Odyssey. Not new at all.

In fact, there is zero new here at all. At least on paper, its an objective dumbing down.

I think it's important to note that AC had light rpg systems since AC2 with different weapons and armor, and it was Unity thar introduced more gear and a skill tree. As long as it's like this, very light, it's ok imo

I just beat Mirage last night. I love this new AC game. Its closer to the older games which I love. I liked Origin, Odyssey and Valhalla but they were a bit too big and there was a lot going on which provided things to do but not enough to hold my attention for long so the story line is really all I cared about. Mirage just hit like the old ones did. The only thing that bothered me is the combat. In all the games before the AC RPGs is when you countered an attack and then went for the kill, you kinda felt it. In Mirage I barely felt it when fighting which was disappointing

The game genuinely feels like if the valhalla gameplay system was back peddled into AC Origins. Like it feels like it has that arcade like gameplay now as the past 3 games, its just that the play area is actually condensed now with more to see. Rather than just mindless big open fields.

Is Ubisoft is good at one thing it’s graphics. People don’t give them enough credit for it. FC, AC ghost recon, splinter cell, siege etc. all look incredible for the times they were based in. I was playing FC5 the other week and was blown away at how good it looked on Series X. 4K, 60fps, with full HDR10 looks like real life.

People don’t give them credit because graphics are the least important thing about a game. Like the sacrifice all of the core aspects of gaming to make something that’s okay to look at for a bit.

@@samp43 I agree 100% but even when people are talking about the most realistic graphics(like just how realistic a game can be) they still never mention these games. Like they forget they exist. Like AC Vahalla looks next gen asf. Same with FC6. FC6 Is one of the few games I’ve just stopped and took in the atmosphere. Like you said graphics aren’t everything but even in that regard I don’t think Ubisoft games are the worst like some people make them out to be. I found Vahalla to be quite fun(as far as Open world RPGs go)

Literally half the assets are flipped from origins it's not impressive it's even more pathetic than normal. Plus they all have similar graphics. Minor improvements but nothing that it leads in. Good but not amazing

I gotta disagree, the downgrading of graphics from their trailers to gameplay is horrible, if anything their earlier games like AC 1 and Splinter cell had better graphics for the time they were released in, and a couple of other ubisoft games. Used to love them till they started putting out an AC game every week, and ruined the Far Cry series and all of their games with micro-transactions and that ubisoft club or whatever.

Compared to games like Horizon Forbidden West, their graphics looks bad imo. Facial animations look awful, voice acting is poor, and foliage/textures don't look detailed. The bar has been raised and Ubisoft needs to step up

Bought it had fun time but if you’re still considering buying I suggest pick it up on sale bcs it’s only 30h to beat 100% and there’s no ng+ also many little things that were great in old AC games got straight up deleted & they only kept the most basic boring mechanics.

Ngl for me, for the aspects that i didnt like (such as animations and the ui and stuff that were very similar or the same as the past 3 games)whilst watching gameplay almost get clouded out when i play it for myself, and its almost like it doesnt matter cuz it just gets overshadowed by the feeling of relief and nostalgia from the parts that do feel like old assassins creed. Configuring the controls to be as similar as possible to the old games also helps!

I do not regret preordering day 1, one bit, and im especially glad i didnt wait for the codmw3 preorder, because it definitely was not gonna be worth the wait (i played the beta and its so trash)

The problem for me was that none of the itemization mattered. Went through the entire game with the starter weapons because it didn't matter if you upgraded them. Ditto for armor. Literally irrelevant.

I have not liked a single AC game after 4 Black Flag. I am not a fan of the open combat and levels, with endless oceans of stats and weapons that will be no good in one level. I am one of the people that wanted a return to the old games. In my opinion the Assassin's Creed games stopped being Assassin's Creed when the hidden blade stopped 1 shotting when assassinating someone. I hate the open combat and the stealth gameplay is extremely lacking in the newer ones. Even if you do sneak up on someone and go for the assassination it takes like 1/4 of their health bar away and they toss you down and your in open combat with the entire camp. How did getting stabbed in the head or neck with the entire weight of a full grown person behind it not kill someone? They were assassin games based around stealth... and they destroyed the stealth and went for a more open combat system. In my opinion AC4 was the only one that had a great balance of giving players the choice of open combat or stealth.

@@BreakHarpe dude exactly. Reviewers pander to what they THINK people want to hear. They see all the "bring back old ac" comments from people who were not even playing these games in the first place, so they pander to that.

Like there's no way people played Odyssey, with all it's major stealth improvements, and massive tree of people to literally hunt with clues and everything, dynamically throughout the map (you can even just run into them if you're super lucky), who are in a cult that's literally just pre Templar, to assassinate.

People look at that game, just random gameplay, and assume what an entire 200+ hour rpg is like lol. Stealthing through those massive bases and against powerful, dangerous enemies, was the best stealths ever been. The closest to GOOD stealth ac has ever had.

Old ac games just looked cool. The games were shallow, you had forced instant fail stealth tailing missions. The stealth outside of those were so so so so easy and mindless.

Wait till it goes on sale. It's not worth the full price. Only 20-30hr playthrough. Around $2 an hr for playing it is not worth it at all when you have games you can easily sink over 100hrs into like Cyberpunk or Starfield. You are paying more for less. Don't fall for it.

It's worth noting that it's a $50 game instead of 60, or even the 70 a lot of AAA games are charging now. It was also advertised as a 20 hour campaign and intended to feel more like the original games, which had similar playtimes and price points.

Why do you want them to cut content to be more like the older games
I would prefer them to keep the dynamic gameplay large maps and good side quests seen in origins and odyssey but if you wanted them to be more stealth focused whilst keeping the high quality updated gameplay that would make more sense

Because more isn't always better. Older AC ganes found ways to change the gameplay around and freshen things up, but now, it just feels like they're doing the same things but with different aesthetics and the same blaoted gameplay.

AC shouldn't feel like a looter shooter with a AC paint job, I don't even think it needs a skill tree. The franchise was built off of AC1 and AC2. they had limited gear. No skill trees (your abilities developed with the story) , just great story, cool action (there where not meat tanks nearly as much). This franchise was built on good story, the cool, enough grounded in reality (majority of the time) that you could immerse yourself in the world. hopefully they do go back to that.

Because Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla all feel bloated instead of consciously designed for a solid experience. More is not always better and i'd say the opposite is more appropriate here: Less is more.

I'd take a shorter, higher quality experience and improved storylines that lasts 30-50 hours over a 150 hour slog. (Though Mirage is not really a higher quality experience when it comes to storyline unfortunately)

Also if you actually learn how the movement works it’s the closest in the series to unity. The game never explains it and makes it seem like all you do is push forward and hold A (or the equivalent for your system) but the game does actually have more inputs for parkour that help it feel more fluid and interactive.

@@keenansisson211 lol I’ve 900 hours on Elden ring you just had to pick that game . Dude I got maybe 25 hours into mirage and it’s very pretty but it has assassins creed 1 movement yet it comes with skill trees and Valhalla style weapon loadout .

I didn’t click with the game and I’ll refund my 80 pound and pick it up next year on sale .

But just not for me at launch , I’m a big fan of the series even when people were shitting on it through the years just mirage didn’t tick the boxes for me .
