OVO producer Nineteen85 brought dvsn into the limelight when he played "The Line" and "With Me" on the eighth OVO Sound Radio tracklist. The two singles were originally released on September 5, 2015 on their SoundCloud. They released their debut album SEPT 5TH on April 1, 2016 via OVO Sound/Warner Bros.
dvsn made their debut live performance, performing at "The Fader Fort presented by Converse" as part of SXSW Music Festival.

DVSN's "Try / Effortless" is a song about a man who is not one to chase love, but finds himself doing exactly that because of the woman he's fallen for. He states that he doesn't have a specific type but if he did, it would be her. Despite this, he doesn't "chase" love and running after it is the last thing he'd do. But he finds himself constantly running around because he adores her and wants her to stop playing games with him. The woman has an effortless nature that draws him towards her and he's now breaking his own rules for her. He's willing to try harder and do more for her because she's the first one to make him feel this way.
The lyrics portray a man who is not usually one to go out of his comfort zone, but because of the woman's effortless charm, he is willing to take risks and break his own rules for her. The woman's easy-going nature is a stark contrast to his reserved personality, and he finds himself falling deeper in love with her because of it.
