Now everybody wanna know when the next drop
Hustle hard everyday bout to share stock
Thorough wit this whole flavor
Call me Barack
Still trill at the heart with my cross out
Everybody wanna know when the next drop
Hustle hard everyday bout to share stock
Thorough wit this whole flavor
Call me Barack
Still trill at the heart with my cross out
Thinkin' about our life and what's most important
That we need while I'm sippin' at forty-two still relaxin'
From all of the, struggles at work successful
But I'm thinkin' about our life and the truth
And what we need not another
Artist selling his soul, not another
Woman droppin' that thang
We are poisoning our future let's fake
What's renowned for us to live
In a place that's heavenly
But I'ma keep it real evolution of hip hop
I'ma break it down got the soul in the top spot
Breakin' all the bounds with the beast
In the media, thorough with the sound
Know it's me D'Vo bringin' ya
Timeless like the classics from
My big brothers back then
We had a little time to sit back
And parlay then, apocalypse
Now got ya boy in the top spot
Time we go head pull our chain out
For Christ now
Now everybody wanna know when the next drop
Hustle hard everyday bout to share stock
Thorough wit this whole flavor
Call me Barack
Still trill at the heart with my cross out
Everybody wanna know when the next drop
Hustle hard everyday bout to share stock
Thorough wit this whole flavor
Call me Barack
Still trill at the heart with my cross out
It's written in rappin' so you can stand it
Comin' at all aims so that you can
Understand it, caring for our future
The premise so you should man up
If you got a chain I'ma need you
Gone stand up
I'ma come through yes sir
For my people, if you bout faith
Wave ya hands boy I need ya
Toast in the air to the real ones
I see ya, it's The Codex yes sir
Boy I need ya
In the grimiest places that's where I need ya to be
You gotta make an example
Got the light let it beam
Don't make it seem like you wasn't
Paying attention at least
Be real with yourself that's that's
What I'm looking for seeds
But the truth this ain't that
You livin' in Hell or with Me
Comin' real with the faction
Comin' as real as can be
You got a record spittin' fluent
Intuitively, this is life or death
All that is Heavenly
But I'ma keep it real evolution of hip hop
I'ma break it down got the soul in the top spot
Breakin' all the bounds with the beast
In the media, thorough with the sound
Know it's me D'Vo bringin' ya
Timeless like the classics from
My big brothers back then
We had a little time to sit back
And parlay then, apocalypse
Now got ya boy in the top spot
Time we go head pull our chain out

Overall Meaning

The song "Evolution" by D & D carries a message about staying true to oneself and keeping it real in the midst of fame and success. The artist expresses the need for people to focus on what's truly important in life, rather than simply striving for wealth or popularity. He acknowledges that the hip hop industry has its pitfalls, such as artists selling their souls or women objectifying themselves, and urges listeners to be mindful of the impact their actions have on future generations. The artist also references his Christian faith, calling for his fellow believers to step up and lead by example.

The song's title, "Evolution," speaks to the artist's view of hip hop as an ever-changing art form that must constantly evolve and innovate to remain relevant. He sees himself as part of this evolution, breaking down barriers and pushing the boundaries of what hip hop can be. The song's hook, "Everybody wanna know when the next drop," refers to the anticipation and excitement surrounding new music releases in hip hop culture, but the artist uses it to suggest that there is more to life than just waiting for the next big thing.

Overall, "Evolution" is a call for deep reflection and personal responsibility in a culture that can often be shallow and self-absorbed. It challenges listeners to be authentic, to care for their communities and to use their influence for positive change.

Currently, I have no interest at all in Monsters of the Multiverse. I already have more monster that I can use. I have been running & playing D&D since 1981. My room mate has been has been doing the same since the mid 70's.
As long as WotC keeps there word, and keeps a 5.5e backwards compatible, I'll not be buying new versions. my roommate will also continue to use 5e and not 5.5e.
As for digital tools, WotC has NEVER managed to handle their own forums, let alone a digital tool set. Take a look at the one they created for 4e, and despair. Unlike D&D Beyond, they FORCED errata and rule changes on the users of that tool set. I don't know how many of my characters that ruined but after 2-3 ruined characters I stopped using 4e personally and went over to Pathfinder 1e came out. When 5e came out I swapped. 4e I will steal material from, but I'll never use that system again . . . ever. Pathfinder 2, unfortunately is far too similar to 4e that I refuse to pay money for it.
I pray WotC never manages to buy D&D Beyond. They will ruin it in under a year in my opinion.
My one, major regret with D&D Beyond, over hard copy books, is you cannot retain what you purchased, without the forced socially oriented changed to the digital version of the Sourced and adventure books that WotC has been forcing on their customers. I bought the original versions because there were what I wanted. As it is, I have been ignoring the WotC enforced changes and going by what I remember. I also occasionally use my room mates old, hard cover books to refresh my memory when needed.
One advantage of D&D Beyond is that you can purchase only parts you want. For example if one of my players wants a class from Monsters of the Universe, I can purchase only that without purchasing anything else. Note: I hate that WotC is completely doing away with the concept of sub-classes. Look at elves for example.
So, as I said earlier, adventures, as long as they remain backwards compatible. I will continue to purchase on a book to book basis. Any source book, based on the format of Monsters of the Universe, probably all of 5.5e, will probably be purchased on a item by item basis if I purchase it at all.

Of course, all of this is MY opinion, and the opinion of most of my players who have all been playing D&D since the Red Basic book, and a few of use even earlier.

Just my 2 cents.

An impression I've been having is that, if WotC introduced D&D 6th edition, some foundational game changes may happen. My suspicion: the change to the relationship between races and ability scores is a prelude to a reconcepting of the ability scores themselves, removing the classic 3-to-18 score in favor of a standalone modifier. Since pointbuy ranges from 8 to 17 (to a max of 20) and that negative stats have a "bad connotation", I suspect we might see a transition like:

Str 8 (-1) > Str +1
Str 10 (0) > Str +2
Str 12 (+1) > Str +3
Str 14 (+2) > Str +4
Str 16 (+3) > Str +5
Str 18 (+4) > Str +6
...

Therefore, the 'Standard' array (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8 - I believe) might turn out a fighter with the following ability scores instead:
Str +4, Dex +4, Con +3, Int +2, Wis +3, Cha +1

Why? I think it's bound to happen. Translation from the classic 3-18 numbers to the modifier is another layer of complexity. The Ability Score Increases is already done with a +2; it could just as easily be only a +1.

The problem I see with this lies in that you can't really go as low.
The numerical of the strength score served as reference to the carryweight, so, that would need fleshing out.
Int +0 would be equal to our current Int 6 (-2)... this is ogre-tier intelligence, but not animal-tier intelligence... So, how to express anything lower? In the case in Intelligence, I could see this becoming a boon by foregoing the number and making it a word like "animal" to make the result of certain spells much clearer to interpret. A spell like <Feeblemind> will likely be tweaked accordingly.

Other mechanical weighting is bound to change as well. 5th edition already gives a spell DC calculation that starts at 8 rather than 10 because it already accounts for the base proficiency bonus of +2. If everyone has a +2 score to a stat on average, the base number for bound accuracy is likely to go down from 8 to 6. Then, with +2 int and +2 prof bonuses, you'd end up at 10.

If they do that, we're likely to see a chance to other things such as how Hit Points are weighted. A mage with the average +2 Con would gain 1d6+2 HP per level... so I expect dices to go down an increment to - say - put the wizard back at his classic 1d4. 1d4+2 rather than 1d6 will yield about the same results, except that the average will increase... but that may not be a big deal since many people seem to gravitate towards the sure-bet of higher HP in level up rather than risking the diceroll and getting a poor result.

Then again, every attack roll is going to see an average increase of +2, so, maybe they'll keep the hit die as they are currently.

...

To be clear, I don't advocate for this. I just expect a move like this is coming in the next decade.

@Snyperwolf91 Hey, bud, just trying to find something in your post that I can respond to, since you pretty much started out with wild accusations about... fanfic? and snowflakes? and only caring about "my goal"? I dunno, it kinda went all rambly and self-righteous. Not sure where the hostility came from, but hey, let's try to meet on some common ground.

I'm glad we agree on the GMs word being final. And in my games, the way I do things is accurate to the lore and the setting of the game world.

If someone wants to do, say, a Goliath that happens to have +2 Str and +1 Con, that's fine. I didn't remove that as a player option, of course. It's about OPENING options, so something like +1 Int, +2 Con (to represent less physical training and more study) would also be allowed. It's not doing the "X race MUST be like Y" hard limit that your house rule would assumedly enforce.

But hey, if you think I'm underlining your comment, then great! I'm glad. And I hope going forward you're less likely to look at how other people play their own games as "wrong" just because it's not how you'd play things.

I also really hope you give floating stats a try, as well, since I think they can improve so much in your own games and you and your GM may be surprised at the entertaining and fun combinations that spring up!

Snyperwolf91

@Syraphym So you wanna say that consistency in lore and setting shouldnt be respected because you dont wanna play a character in the world with its set rules but an exception because your fan-fiction character is already visioned as an outcasted badass/special snowflske despite what could ruin the world-building ?

Sorry but you dont respect the world of the DM/creator who made the world and its consistencies because you wanna be something special already instead experiencing adventures and let your character grow into an badass with his actions and decisions he made . If you cant take some drawbacks to improve them out then whats the point in a progression-system then ?

You think only about your goal and not the adventure your character experiences. And all for that not-earned +1 in your attribute- modificator ?

I can understand that people like meta-gaming but even in meta-gaming you know what drawbacks there are and need to grow your character to become more efficient in his role and balance out your character.

Thats some insecurity-shit right there.

@Bonbon Dur JDR Thank you very much . I researched a few years from now on and asked myself often why D&D 5e just comes to me so bland that i almost despise it.

Ive read already countless comments , forums , documentations and even histories of D&D in just 2-3 years .

And its for me not only interesting but also very sad that people dont just wanna play D&D in its intended manner but rather projecting themselves as totally different then the worlds allowed it.

I mean i DMed many games already in 5e and what ive experienced what people wanna play in my middle-earth setting alone just screams of failed understanding what D&D is all about and why there are limits and rules to a setting/realm.

Those people wanna be already some high tier badasses instead playing many adventures to see their characters grow into the hero they made themselves through their decisions , actions and motivation of their characters.

Or what i explain/called this phenomena as "Being already at the goal " . I would say that it has to do with insecurities but this could be only one aspect of the whole problem-mountain that D&D is evolved to.

I think the best case scenario would be for them to use dnd beyond and expand it. And the 5.5e would come with a code that you use to claim them online.

Ryan Jones

@Justin Argenio They do now!

George Kaloudis

I mean i kinda called it? They nought dnd beyond. Now i just have to wait for the 5.5e books with the digital codes xD

Ed Darby

@Schemage22 I agree there are many reasons to prefer Cloud resources, but books are good too.

I could see WotC writing a new agreement with DDB to unlock content with a code a user would get with their book, and then Wizards credits DDB some amount of money, maybe $10 on their monthly license fee. But it would need to be negotiated into a new agreement, maybe when v6 comes. A big question comes about what happens to v5 content at DDB.

I don't consider $49 an outrageous expense for one of the core three books. I think I have received as much value. Paying twice that is something I cant justify.

Schemage22

@Ed Darby This is a completely valid concern and not just in regard to d&d beyond but rather all digital marketplaces/walled gardens... The evitable day will come when the company flips the switch, and that service will all loved is gone, and you're left with nothing. Much of this has already been witnessed recently with the closure of the PSP and PS Vita store fronts from Sony and the Nintendo Wii Shop (All three stores are clearly past end-of-life, so as much as it sucks, I can't fault either company in this). These are aspects of the digital age we really have yet to figure out......

On the topic of D&D, while books are forever, my very first DM use to have a small suitcase for all the D&D hardcovers that he would bring to every game session (this being about 5 years ago), these days all I need to take to the games I DM is an android tablet. And the way in which I can search, cross reference and deliberately pick apart content on that tablet is insane.

Imagine this, you take a dungeon out of Mad Mage, fill it with creatures specifically found in Rime of the Forest Maiden, all the while needing your Eberron Book on hand because you run an Eberron Campaign, which says nothing about your PHB, DMG (mostly for the magic items tables), and your Monster Manual for whatever other creatures you need. This example is a little out there but not by much meaning you could end up needing to drag 5 - 6 books to the gaming session..... Or you could take one android tablet!

Digital resources aren't going away I don't think. In this age, I hope they don't. And while your right in that these are two separate businesses, perhaps there could be a more favourable pro-consumer move to allow us to get both without having two companies both charging an arm and a leg.... And still allowing both companies to make a profit. For instance I am happily a subscription to DDB, so it could be said that they are getting their pound of flesh from me, so is a discount on the digital books much to ask for "if I buy a WoTC certified hard copy"?

Ed Darby

@John Cox Too many people just don't understand the fact that they are two different companies and how their business relationship works. They just want to have a digital book and a physical book for the price of one.

However, if it became all digital, what happens when they decide to close the website?
