D bass Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴

You can still call I prolly answer
You ain't gotta act like you ion't see me
When you see me, you ain't stevie yea
Ian stevie neither shi I see you
Know we ain't been speaking but spare me the grudge
Even when I gave my all it was never enough
I been working on my timing it seem like you rushed
I'm just tryina break the ice I know you like it crushed
Yea
I know sometimes I might fall short
Lackin' in character
Get defensive and I put up a barrier
Remember watchin' yo growth, almost thought u changed but now it feel like a hoax
Strengthen up my ankle it sprain jus blame the flo
Yea
Few reasons why I'm the goat
I can see tha changes I noticed we ain't as close
Even if ion't say it, it's in my notes
It's noted, yea
Word to my nephew sometimes I feel I was choyzn
But some niggas don't get the picture until it's in motion
It's a movie now
You ain't wit me I question yo judgement
Seen niggas change fits like banana republic
Yea
I had one of my niggas say he charge for a feature
For lack of better words ian need it
I just need my space like I'm grieving
It's a space in-between us
Gon' take a second fore' we ever get even (Yea)
We not losing
Put on a sweatshirt and created an odd future
Niggas watered down, just sayin', they diluted
Shoot a fire ball out my hands like haduken
Niggas hatin', know I'm the shit like bowel movement...
I coulda kept that scheme going
If you like her put a ring on it
Type of shi a shorty say when she lonely
Need a bihh that set if off like she stony
Yea
I just might be the greatest nigga call my bluff

Ain't no more debating all you niggas suck
Either way it go it's never enough

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "Never Enough" by D bass depict a complex relationship filled with misunderstandings and unmet expectations. The singer expresses their willingness to still be available to the other person, even though there may have been some distance between them. They want to be acknowledged, and they compare themselves to legendary musician Stevie Wonder, implying that they expect recognition and attention.

The lyrics also suggest that the singer has invested a lot in the relationship but feels like their efforts have always fallen short. They mention working on their timing, indicating a desire to improve the relationship, but feeling rushed by the other person. The line "I'm just tryina break the ice I know you like it crushed" suggests a longing for reconciliation and a desire to mend the broken connection.

The second paragraph delves into the singer's self-awareness and admission of their flaws. They admit to sometimes falling short and lacking in character. They also mention putting up emotional barriers when they feel defensive. They remember witnessing the growth of the other person but now feel like it was all a deception. The reference to a sprained ankle blames the circumstances rather than the singer themselves, suggesting that they are placing some blame on external factors.

The lyrics then shift to the singer recognizing their own growth and change. They acknowledge that things have changed between them and the other person, even if they don't explicitly say it. The mention of their notes suggests that the singer has observed the distance between them and has kept records of their feelings. The line "Word to my nephew sometimes I feel I was choyzn" indicates a sense of being chosen or destined to be involved in this situation, possibly suggesting a higher power or fate playing a role.

The lyrics continue with a sense of frustration towards the other person. The singer questions their judgment and observes how people can change their behavior. The mention of someone charging for a feature suggests that even within their circle, relationships have become transactional. The singer desires space, comparing it to grieving, implying a need for emotional distance to process their feelings. They recognize the distance between them and the other person and acknowledge that it will take time before they can reconcile or find common ground again.

The final lines of the song reveal the singer's self-assuredness and confidence in their own abilities. They affirm their greatness and dismiss those who doubt them. The line "Either way it go it's never enough" suggests that no matter what they do or how they perform, it will never be sufficient in the eyes of others, framing it as a motivating factor in their journey towards success.

I was thinking the same bro!
I’d think if you would ask if she knows the song she’d say what’s that, meanwhile......

I totally agree. You can tell she's connected with her Bass. I have played a SUB bass just trying one out in the store, I don't have the talent she's got at all, but really appreciate her talent. Those SUB's do sound nice though. Fender are a beautiful sound too working with the guitar knobs just right. Loved your comment though. Stay Well.

Holy crap. I must have heard this song hundreds of times over the years, but I never knew the bass line was so complex. You played it like you wrote it.

exactly. bass is usually buried unless it is obnoxious.

Damond Chavis

She did. The bass line for the song is simple. She added her own flavor to it.
