Damian Davey (real name Damian Baker; 30 September 1964 โ 12 February 2017), better known by the mononym Damian, was an English pop musician, best known for his 1989 hit "The Time Warp", a cover version of the original track from The Rocky Horror Show.
Damian was briefly successful in the late 1980s. His first version of "The Time Warp", released in 1987, was produced by Des Tong from Sad Cafรฉ and featured Sheila Gott, Jean Barrow, Ian Wilson and Steve Butler on backing vocals. It was recorded at Vector TV in Stockport and mixed at Battery Studios, London by Paul Schroeder. Both this and a 1988 reissue of the song failed to make the Top 40 of the UK Singles Chart and it only became a hit after being remixed and restructured by Pete Hammond, reaching number 7 in the charts in 1989.
Damian's follow up single, "Wig-Wam Bam", a cover of The Sweet song, reached number 49 in the UK Singles Chart. This single featured "Putting It All Behind Me" as the B-side.
Damian died from cancer on February 12, 2017 aged 52.

(I'm saying that you're Beautiful)
And I think that I take too long
It's maybe cause I think too hard
The rain is dripping off my skin
It's way too crazy cause
I know we can't be More than Friends
We can't be More than Friends
Wish I could start it all again but
We can't be More than Friends
I get very nervous
You're doing it on purpose
Got my stomach turning
We're going around in circles
It's pretty shitty that you ain't with me
But when you come around I can't believe
That you got me falling
Stumbling, turning, crawling
Texting till the morning
Watching from the nosebleeds
Cause it's pretty true you ain't with me
These winter nights in June
Too cold to sleep
And I know that you take too long
It's maybe cause you think too hard
The rain is dripping off your skin
It's way too crazy cause
You know we can't be More than Friends
We can't be More than Friends
Can't be more, Can't be more
Wish I could start it all again but
We can't be more than friends
We should be dancing
Late nights out in Sandton,
Instagramming captions, Pictures of us laughing
You could imagine What we could be
Come over to the green and Feel relief
(Feel Relief)
Take love
And hold it close to you
Take Shots
We'll leave the bar at 2
Just us
We're falling down again
Hold me closer friend
And I know that we take too long
It's maybe cause we think too hard
The rain is dripping off our skin
It's way too crazy cause we know we can't be More than Friends
We can't be More than friends
Can't be more, Can't be more
Wish we could start it all again but
We can't be more than friends
The lyrics of Damian Marley's song "Friends" are a tribute to friendship and loyalty. The first verse is an acknowledgement of the passage of time and the losses that come with it. Damian reminisces about his friends who have died, fallen ill, or drifted away over the years. He talks about his responsibility to pass on their wisdom and knowledge to their children. He also expresses gratitude to the friends who have stuck by him through thick and thin, even when times were tough. The chorus reiterates the idea that real friends are the ones who stick around and don't change, even when everything else does. The second verse is a warning against fake friends and acquaintances who only stick around when everything is going well. Damian warns against jealousy, backstabbing, and selfishness, urging his listeners to hold onto those who are truly loyal and honorable. The bridge is a call to action, urging us to be courageous in the face of adversity and to hold true to our values and principles, even when it's hard.
Overall, the song acts as a reminder to cherish and appreciate the people in our lives who are true friends, not just acquaintances or fair-weather friends.
