One of his projects is the supergroup The Good, The Bad & The Queen, where he plays the keyboard and sings. Other members of the band are Paul Simonon (bass, The Clash), Simon Tong (guitar, The Verve) and Tony Allen (drums, percussion). Their album (released in early 2007) is produced by DJ Danger Mouse (producer of Gorillaz album "Demon Days", member of Gnarls Barkley).
The Marvelous Dream Songfacts says that another of his projects is Dr Dee, an opera created by Albarn with theatre director Rufus Norris. The work is based on the life of Dr. John Dee (1527-1608), an Elizabethan courtier who was also a mathematician, alchemist, astrologer, spiritualist, philosopher and spy. The operaās debut performance was at the Palace Theatre, Manchester in July 2011, as part of the 2011 Manchester International Festival. The soundtrack was released on May 8, 2012 by Virgin.

Damon Albarn Lyrics

Is this a rappin' song
But I got token ticking
I bail him over
And well I ques que se*
The sun back in my bag
I'm drinking lava sunshine, with tea
And beds are messy
Are shut up in your face
I'll waste a few
I'll give a few
And then ostaside (?) me
HEY
*Rapping part*
I go from hotel to the car
And to the club
And sing my song
And hopefully I look inside
And she is pretty
And so my car is in (?)
That's the reason I wasn't in
I go rou rou rou round again
And I hope you like us
*rapping part*
The lyrics to Damon Albarn's song "a rappy song" seem to be a stream of consciousness type of writing that touches on various thoughts and images. The singer questions whether the song is a rap song, but then mentions a person named Token and bailing them over, possibly referencing a friend or associate. The singer then mentions putting the sun back in their bag and drinking "lava sunshine" with tea, which could be interpreted as a euphemism for something else. The mention of messy beds could be a reference to the aftermath of a romantic encounter, indicating that the singer may have feelings of regret or longing for something they can't have.
The lyrics then shift to the singer's routine of going from hotel to car to club, singing their song, hoping to catch the eye of a pretty girl. The mention of the car being "in" could be interpreted as the car being impressive or desirable, and the singer hopes the girl will like them. The lyrics are accompanied by a rap verse, which further emphasizes the stream of consciousness style of writing and adds to the overall effect of the song.

Lyrics:
Correct if I'm wrong
Is this a rappin' song
But I got token ticking
I bail him over
Well I choose to say
The sun pack in my back
I'm drinking all the sunshine, with tea
Beds are messy
And all my words
Are shut up in your face
I'll waste a few, I'll give a few
And then, I still softly
I go from hotel to the car
And to the club, and sing my song
And hopefully, I looked right in and
She looks pretty
So my car is in
That's the reason I wasn't in
I go rou-rou-rou-round again and
I hope you like us

I can't help it, but when I listen to this I always see 2D singing this. Never Damon...is that bad?

kechupp

It's because 2D sings in a frantic druggy falsetto voice. He sure does sound like Damon, though.

Yeah, in these songs he sings in a "crazy" style, typical from 2D singing voice.

1:20 it's really starts to sound like an old Black Eyed Peas song š, which I like because when I was really young my parents used to put on Mp3 players that played a lot of Black Eyed Peas and Gorillaz whenever we went on a roadtrip, so it's like a lil nostalgia trip for me

then you better check out the remix version of this song...and i would totally agree to BEP relation
2D's blue-ty shorts
This REALLY sounds like a Gorillaz song. I know Damon made this, but there's definitely always a fine difference between the music in his other projects. Hell, he even sings a bit differently when he sings as 2D and honestly I'm getting FULL ON 2D vibes here from his voice rather than Damon.
