From a very music oriented family, his older brother Jim Seals sang with a 1950s musical group called The Champs who had a 1958 hit single with the song "Tequila", and who then teamed up with Dash Crofts in the mid-1960's to perform as Seals & Crofts. Dan's other brother is country musician Eddie Seals. He is a cousin of singers Johnny Duncan, Troy Seals, Chuck Seals and Brady Seals (of Little Texas and Hot Apple Pie fame).
Taught by his father to play the upright bass, in high school, Dan joined with piano-playing friend John Ford Coley to perform first as part of Dallas pop/psych group "Southwest F.O.B." (Freight On Board) whose material has been re-released on CD by the Sundazed label. When the group disbanded, he continued performing with Coley as England Dan & John Ford Coley. The two would eventually have several hits performing singing pop rock harmonies such as I'd Really Love To See You Tonight. After 7 albums, they disbanded in 1980 and since then Dan has been performing as a solo artist.
Between 1985 and 1990, Seals scored 10 #1 hits, 7 of them consecutively, on the country charts. His first #1 was "Meet Me in Montana", a 1985 duet with Marie Osmond. His first #1 as a solo artist, "Bop", won the Country Music Association Award for best single in 1986 and had some crossover success as well; the song reached #10 on the adult contemporary charts and #42 in the Billboard Hot 100. Seals and Osmond also won a CMA award as Vocal Duo of the Year in 1986.
Dan, his brother Jim, and Dash Crofts are members of the Bahá'í Faith and say that they derive a lot of their inspiration from the faith's teachings.
Although Dan was a touring artist for the rest of the 1990s, he did release a few more albums on smaller labels throughout the decade, such as Fired Up in 1994, his final album for Warner Bros. He signed to Intersound and released In a Quiet Room, comprising acoustic versions of his earlier hits in 1995. He then switched to TDC and released In a Quiet Room II in 1998, followed by Make It Home in 2002.[7]
In 2008, Seals completed radiation treatments for mantle cell lymphoma at Vanderbilt in Nashville and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and received a stem cell transplant in December of that year at NIH in Maryland. Seals died at the age of 61, on March 25, 2009, at his daughter's home following those treatments.[8]
You Still Move Me

If I found you alone like this
Would I remember
What I've got at home
Or forget it all with your kiss
'Cause when you left me
I was hurtin' so
She picked me up off the ground
That I never want to let her down
[Chorus]
But you still move me
Though I'd never let her know
There's a place inside of me that just won't let you go
And every time I hold her in my arms
Or look into her eyes
I wonder this time, does it show
'Cause you still move me
I guess I'd better leave now
Before it's too late
Before these feelings go too far
But I had to see you
Just one more time
'Cause it's been tearing me apart
'Cause you still move me
And I wonder how much longer can this go on
The feelin' wrong, I know it's wrong
And I don't know which way to turn
Here with you, or home with her
[Chorus]
But you still move me
Though I'd never let her know
There's a place inside of me that just won't let you go
And every time I hold her in my arms
Or look into her eyes
I wonder this time, does it show
'Cause you still move me
'Cause you move me, God you move me
The song "You Still Move Me" by Dan Seals is about a man who has feelings for his ex-lover while he is in a committed relationship with another woman. The song starts with the singer wondering what he would do if he found his ex-lover alone, whether he would remember the love and commitment he has for his current partner or give in to the temptation of his ex's kiss. The next lines reveal that the singer's current partner had supported and pulled him through when he was hurt from the break-up with his ex, and he does not want to disappoint or let her down.
In the chorus, the singer admits that he still has feelings for his ex-lover despite being in a relationship with someone else. He wonders if his current partner can see through him every time he holds her or looks into her eyes, knowing that he still has feelings for his ex-lover. The song ends with the singer debating the dilemma of staying with his current partner or going back to his ex-lover.
Overall, the words express the emotional turmoil and struggle of choosing between two loves. The verses portray the battle within oneself, and the chorus depicts the feeling of not being able to let go entirely. The song represents a common human emotion of being unable to forget our past entirely, causing confusion in the present and future.

Everytime this man sings, I get chills. I absolutely adore him and his music. They don't make 'em like this anymore. Country needs to go back to what it was meant to be.

@David Ahart mid 90's everything started to go down hill. All I listen to is the older stuff. Back when it really was country.

Everytime I hear this song, I think about my first true love.. here it is 21 years later and I often see her at my son's school and my heart still skips a beat.. But then I think.. If things went the way I so desperately wanted them to go back then, I wouldn't have the wonderful wife and two amazing children that I have today.. As Garth says.. "Thank God For Unanswered Prayers" but she'll always have a place in my heart..

just an incredible piece of music. haven't seen her in over 10 years but she still moves me, and so does this song. I have a good woman now and 2 beautiful daughters, but I still wonder....at least I'm not the only one. been a while since I've listened to this song for a reason, it's great but so damn close to home it's hard to deal with. that's the mark of greatness in music I'd say.
