Dana International Lyrics

Kama yamim shel ahava
Lo yokhlo le shnot oti
Kama tshuvot she yesh lekha
Hen yihyu ha or sheli
Li vkot elekha
Li vkot elekha
Galim shel dma ot
Shtey mizvadot aruzot le hitra ot

O Don Quikhote nasikh ha khalomot
Kuante di notshe kol ha banot kholmot
Sinderela partsa kan et kol ha nvulot
Etkha ho Don Quikhote

Kama yamim shel ahava
Ve nerot dolkim be khadri
Kama anashim tsakhaku
Kshe siparta she ata ohev oti
Li vkot elekha
Li vkot elekha

Galim shel dma ot
Shtey mizvadot aruzot le hitra ot.

Overall Meaning

The first verse of Dana International's song "Don Quixote" speaks to the longevity of love and how the singer's beloved will never tire of her. The lyrics suggest that there are many answers that the beloved has within them, and these answers are the singer's light. The repetition of the line "li v'kot elecha" not only emphasizes the importance of the beloved but also gives the impression of a prayer. The second half of the verse speaks of tears and two veiled brides to be ceremoniously prepared. There is a sense of foreboding in the air that something may be lost, but the singer of the song is willing to give themselves to the beloved to find it.

The chorus mentions Don Quixote, the famous nobleman who fought windmills and went on many adventures. It praises him for being a dreamer and being able to achieve the impossible. The lyrics continue by saying that like Don Quixote, the singer's beloved is also a dreamer. The chorus also mentions Cinderella, another famous fairy tale character who was able to change her life through love. The choice of these characters emphasizes the theme of the song: the power of love and how it can make a difference.
