And now I'm suffocating, and I can't get myself to sleep
When I close me eyes, you're all I see
Photographs replace my memories
But then, something that I never known and I can't wrap my head around you
Brought me in, from the cold, took my hands till they turn blue
You left without a reason to believe
You pulled it right out of me
I wish you were around me to degrade
Cuz I was disappointed, fade away
But then, something that I never known and I can't wrap my head around you
Brought me in, from the cold, took my hands till they turn blue
You showed me how to let my guard down
Impossibly helped me to understand how to love again
And feeling doesn't seem so hard now
You had the ones I never thought would make it
Now I love again
You taught me how to breathe again, kept my head above the water when the storm is bothering you
Open my eyes to see again in the darkest of all over New York
But then, something that I never known and I can't wrap my head around you
Brought me in, from the cold, took my hands till they turn blue
You showed me how to let my guard down
Impossibly helped me to understand how to love again
And feeling doesn't seem so hard now
You had the ones I never thought would make it
Now I love again
Now I love again
Now I love again
The lyrics of Dana Lowrey's song Love Again are a heartfelt account of the pain of lost love and the hope of finding it again. The opening lines express the singer's profound disappointment, as they feel the suffocating pain of a broken heart, and struggle to find solace in memories and photographs. However, despite these feelings of despair, the singer is struck by something new and unexpected that pushes them from the cold and helps them to feel warmth once more. The words allude to an experience in which the singer was lost and alone, but found a love that was just right to heal their heart.
In the second stanza, the singer speaks directly to their lost love, expressing their sense of betrayal and their loss of faith in love. However, this disappointment turns into hope as the experience of finding a new love helps the singer to let down their guard and rediscover the feeling of being loved again. The new love unsurprisingly sparks joy in the singer, allowing them to let go of the disappointments of the past and to move on to brighter, happier experiences. The final line, "now I love again," reinforces the idea that love is a process of growth and renewal, rather than a fixed state.
