Let The Sun Shine
Daniel Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Wasn't gonna make it 'til I found a biff
It was an emergency, stage five emergency
Had to find something to wipe my butt with
It was an emergency, it was an emergency
Wasn't gonna make it 'til I found a biff
It was an emergency, stage five emergency
It was an emergency, it was an emergency
Wasn't gonna make it 'til I found a biff
It was an emergency, stage five emergency
Had to find something to wipe my butt with
Calamine, where the sun don't shine
Calamine, relief for my behind
Calamine, where the sun don't shine
Calamine, I'm not crying there's something in my eye...
In these lyrics, Daniel uses the metaphor of an "emergency" to describe a situation that requires immediate attention or resolution. This emergency seems to be quite personal and uncomfortable, as it pertains to finding something to wipe his butt with. The repetition of the phrase "It was an emergency" emphasizes the urgency and importance of the situation.
The use of the word "biff" suggests that Daniel is referring to a bathroom or toilet. The line "Wasn't gonna make it 'til I found a biff" implies that he was in desperate need of a restroom and without finding one, he would not have been able to relieve himself. This highlights the physical discomfort and urgency he felt.
The phrase "stage five emergency" adds further emphasis to the severity of the situation. It implies that the emergency has escalated to a level of extreme urgency, potentially suggesting that this was a desperate and dire situation for Daniel.
The repetition of these lyrics throughout the song emphasizes the ongoing and persistent nature of this emergency. It suggests that finding a solution to this immediate problem was of utmost importance to Daniel and dominated his thoughts and actions.
The final section of the lyrics brings in the mention of "calamine," which is a topical medication often used to relieve itching or irritation. The line "Calamine, where the sun don't shine" suggests that Daniel is using this remedy to alleviate discomfort in a sensitive area. The reference to "relief for my behind" highlights the physical relief he seeks.
The line "I'm not crying, there's something in my eye" may be a lighthearted way for Daniel to acknowledge the awkwardness or embarrassment of discussing such personal matters. It could also be a play on words, as eyes often tear up when they come into contact with irritants, similar to the relief he experiences from using calamine lotion.
Overall, these lyrics humorously depict a situation of physical discomfort and urgency, with Daniel's search for relief becoming the central focus.
