Spide-Verse?

I think the reason why so many people love Spider-Man is because anyone can be Spider-Man. Unlike other superheroes, Spider-Man wasn’t destined to be Spider-Man, he was just an ordinary person that happened to get super powers.

Greatness can come from anyone, but not everyone can be great

everyone can be spiderman, a simple nerd dude, a black person, a young japanese kid, a blonde rock girl, a pig, even batman

@Dan Pell I agree with the message, I just think the wording is off. Spider-Man isn’t the only hero who accidentally got his powers. I’d guess there’s actually a greater number of mainstream heroes who are either powerless or accidentally got their powers than those who were born gods or aliens or something. And the definition of destiny is wonky because if you β€œaccidentally” get super powers, then there would be those who would say β€œeverything happens for a reason so it must’ve been destiny for you to get your powers”. So I understand and agree with what OP is trying to say, I just think the wording was a little off. Not just anyone can be Spider-Man because you need powers to be Spider-Man, but everyone can live up to his standard which is the meaning of the whole wearing the mask thing: if miles ended up at the same place at the end of the movie, where he was sure about his purpose in life (mainly talking about his school work and future since that’s the part of the movie that didn’t deal with being a superhero), he’d still be worthy of being Spider-Man even if he didn’t have the powers, but without the powers he isn’t Spider-Man, plain and simple. It’s a meaningless distinction especially in comparison to the message and I didn’t mean to fixate on one little point but like I said I just thought it wasn’t quite worded accurately.

@Big Blue anyone can be spiderman is explicitly the message of into the spiderverse, Miles literally says "anyone can wear the mask, YOU can wear the mask" in his closing monologue to the audience
