Dannii first broke out of her sister's shadow in 1997 with the album Girl. Whilst Kylie Minogue was experimenting with dark lyrics, indie collaborations and moody images (Impossible Princess), Dannii went out and out for the dancefloor with the huge hit All I Wanna Do. Unfortunately, the album that it was from only reached No. 57. However, Dannii herself has said, "This was a big turning point for me. It has led me on to the album Neon Nights and my collaborations with many club DJs and remixers".
2001 was a success for Dannii, when her vocals were part of Riva's Who Do You Love Now?, which laid the foundations for her fourth album Neon Nights released in March 2003.
Moving to London Records, Dannii made more credible dance tracks including I Begin To Wonder and Put The Needle On It. In 2003, Dannii released her fourth album, Neon Nights. It was a surprise chart success, reaching no.8 in the UK charts and eventually achieving gold status, selling over 100,000 copies. The album also made gold certification in Australia. Dannii also teamed up with chill-out Ibiza stars Afterlife for a collaboration on their Speck of Gold album. Dannii's star was beginning to shine in its own right.
In 2004, after a top 10 album and four top 10 singles, Dannii moved to All Around The World Records. Her first single for AATW was You Won't Forget About Me, which saw Dannii's vocals layered on top of the instrumental hit Flower Power and landed at no.7 in the UK charts, making it Dannii's fifth consecutive top 10 hit. You Won't Forget About Me was followed up in 2005 by Perfection, on which Dannii teamed up with the Soul Seekerz, which narrowly missed out on the top 10 in the UK, peaking at no.11. In 2006, she returned with So Under Pressure and her Greatest Hits album The Hits & Beyond.
Dannii has been a judge on British television channel ITV's The X Factor since 2007 alongside Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole and Louis Walsh.
In November 2007, Girl and Neon Nights were re-released with bonus discs, with a new studio album Club Disco and compilation album Unleashed appearing within the following weeks. A stand alone single Touch Me Like That was released in December 2007. It was later included on the re-release of Club Disco released in Australia in the spring 2008.
Later in 2008, the logical and long-overdue duet with her own sister finally was released as Kylie & Dannii recorded a cover of ABBA's The Winner Takes It All appeared on the soundtrack album to the shortlived BBC show Beautiful People.
Going Going Gone
Dannii Minogue Lyrics

Yeah
Must've been a time when you were all mine
So let me tell you
It went like this
Was it real?
Something I created in my head?
When we sat
On my bed
And you said,
"Baby, baby"
Were you teasing when you called my name?
(Call my name)
I felt love
I bet you felt the same
When you sat
On my bed
And you said,
"Blah, blah, blah, blah"
[Chorus]
Must've been a time when you were all mine
Something came between us
Over and over in my mind
Trying to find a reason
I can't take it back
Where has the love gone?
Going, going, gone
(Going)
Going, going, gone
(Going)
Going, going, gone
Now I know that it was all a game
(All a game)
I bet you told your next doll the same
When you sat
On her bed
And you said
"Blah, blah, blah, blah blah!"
[Chorus: x2]
No!
Going, going, gone
(Must've been a time when)
He said he loved me
(Over and over)
He was my baby
(Must've been a time when you were all mine)
No he don't love me
(Over and over in my mind)
I don't know why!
[Chorus: x3]
The lyrics of Dannii Minogue's "Going Going Gone" appear to be about someone looking back on a past relationship and their struggle to come to terms with its end. The opening line, "Must've been a time when / Yeah / Must've been a time when you were all mine" sets a reflective tone, suggesting that the singer remembers fondly when they felt that they had their partner's love and attention. However, later in the song, the singer seems to realize that the relationship may not have been as genuine as they thought. In the lines "Was it real? / Did I imagine it? / Something I created in my head?" they seem to question whether their recollection of their partner's affection was just a figment of their imagination.
The rest of the lyrics add to this sense of uncertainty and disillusionment. The singer wonders whether their partner was just playing with their emotions ("Were you teasing when you called my name?"), and acknowledges that their affection may have been fickle ("Now I know that it was all a game / I bet you told your next doll the same"). The repeated refrain of "Going, going, gone" emphasizes the idea that the love they once shared has disappeared, but the singer still struggles to understand why or how it happened.
Overall, "Going Going Gone" is a song about the confusion and heartbreak that can come with the end of a relationship. It captures the conflicting emotions of remembering both the good times and the potential deceits, as well as the struggle to move on and find closure.
