Their debut single on Virgin Records in Feb' 1987, "Mary's Prayer", failed to make an impression, although it did chart in the US before hitting the UK Top 50 in August and then No. 3 the following March. The song was later featured in the movie "Something About Mary"
The debut album "Meet Danny Wilson" was full of promise with the band's clean-cut image fitting perfectly in the late-80's trend for slick.
Their follow-up album, "Bebop Moptop", however, failed to make much impression, though the fine single "The Second Summer Of Love" did go Top 30.
There was also a subsequent "Greatest Hits" album released after the band split in 1990.
Loneliness
Danny Wilson Lyrics

Then follow your heart to the tomb always keeping
her eyes on your highs and your lows
I wonder how loneliness goes
Does loneliness loom in the here ever after
Or hang ‘round the room like the echo of laughter
Does loneliness rain when it snows
God save all the lonely ones
Who wait for love 'til nothing comes
God save all the lonely ones
Who wait for love forever
Does loneliness eat through your heart like a cancer
The loneliest doctors have searched for the answer
And come up with nobody knows
Exactly how loneliness goes
God save all the lonely ones
Who wait for love forever
The song "Loneliness" by Danny Wilson is a contemplation of the enigmatic nature of loneliness throughout the different stages of life. The first verse asks if loneliness is something that starts at birth, something that one carries all the way to the grave and is always watching the ups and downs of one's life. The second verse ponders whether loneliness is something that only exists in this life or whether it transcends into the afterlife or is merely an aftereffect of laughter, a haunting presence that lingers around the room. The third verse compares loneliness to a ruthless disease that spreads like cancer and breaks down the heart, yet neither the doctors nor anyone else seems to have any answers about how to treat it.
The chorus pleads with God to save all those who are hopelessly lonely and waiting endlessly for love, who are left forsaken and forgotten in a world obsessed with happiness and connectedness. The line "God save all the lonely ones who wait for love 'til nothing comes," encapsulates the despair and hopelessness that many lonely people feel, as if love is an unattainable dream that vanishes the closer they get to it.
Overall, the song is an insightful and poignant reflection on a pervasive human emotion that is often overlooked or dismissed, and a call to empathize with and support those who suffer from it.
