Radar Detector
Darwin Deez Lyrics

You and I buy star maps and ding dong ditch a televangelist
It's only been a week
But I know that you are mine to keep
You are a radar detector
I drive a thousand miles an hour
But you are always looking out for me
You and I go shopping and find exactly what we're looking for
You and I go shopping and fall asleep inside the mattress store.
We cruise the neighborhood
But it's not supposed to feel this good
You are a radar detector
When I'm driving around, you are a radar detector
The lyrics of Darwin Deez's song 'Radar Detector' appear to narrate the sweet and adventurous journey of two lovers driving around Los Angeles, engaging in mischievous activities, and finding comfort in each other's company. The first two lines of the song talk about the couple buying star maps and ding dong ditching a televangelist. 'Star maps' are maps that celebrity enthusiasts use to guide them to the homes of famous people, and 'ding dong ditching' refers to a childish prank where the prankster rings someone's doorbell and then runs away before the door is answered. These activities suggest that the couple is playful, carefree, and looking for excitement.
As the song progresses, the singer mentions that it's only been a week, but the girl he's with is already his to keep. This shows that despite the short duration of their relationship, he is sure about his feelings for her. The chorus of the song is where the title 'Radar Detector' comes from. The singer declares that the girl is his radar detector, always looking out for him as he drives around at a thousand miles an hour.
The second verse talks about the couple going shopping and falling asleep at a mattress store. The song ends with the declaration that cruising around the neighborhood feels good but that it's not supposed to feel that way. The lyrics of the song overall seem to convey the feelings of excitement, adventure, and young love.

I've known this song for about 3 years now and had the chance to see them live some weeks ago, of course I took it and the show was incredibly funny, they even had some dancing and pantomime sketches inbetween the songs and I remember how Darwin even had a fit of laughter when trying to open up a new song. I'd really recommend checking them out live if they ever come near you.
