Drifting Away
Dave Pearce Lyrics

It feels like I can't let you go
I'm at the point of no return
Don't ever wanna come back down
I'm up so high above the ground
This feeling I will always yearn
I'm flying, I'm gonna head for paradise
Nothing to say
I'm climbing, I wanna stay right here tonight
Drifting away
Drifting away
Now I've got you inside of me
I'll take the opportunity
To keep on going with the flow
Don't ever wanna come back down
I'm up so high above the ground
I hope this feeling never goes
Drifting away
I'm flying, I'm gonna head for paradise
Nothing to say
I'm climbing, I wanna stay right here tonight
Drifting away
Drifting away
Drifting away
Drifting away
Drifting away
Drifting away
Drifting away
Drifting away
Drifting away
Drifting away
Drifting away
Drifting away
Drifting away
Drifting away
The lyrics to Dave Pearce's song "Drifting Away" appear to be a description of the euphoric feeling that comes with being in love or infatuated with someone. The singer suggests that losing self-control is a hallmark of this feeling, one that can make it difficult to let go of the person causing such an intense reaction. The phrase "point of no return" conveys the sense of being on the edge of something, perhaps on the brink of a new kind of experience or relationship, and not wanting to turn back.
As the song progresses, the singer continues to describe the sensation of being "up so high above the ground" and feeling like they are "drifting away" towards some kind of idyllic paradise. There's a sense of being untethered from reality and caught up in a fantasy version of the world. The repetition of "drifting away" and the use of the word "flying" underscore this sense of weightlessness and detachment from the everyday.
Overall, the lyrics to "Drifting Away" read like a love song, but one that emphasizes the transcendental nature of the experience. This feeling of floating away from reality is perfectly captured by the song's dreamy, ethereal sound, which complements the lyrics nicely.
