Holding on to Nothing

I feel something happen
When we breathe
All the world is undone
Stay with me
As my heart surrenders
Comfort me
Oh oh
When we sleep
Darkness brings us release
All you need
You can find it in me
Stay with me
As my heart surrenders
Comfort me
As I fall I cry
Standin' in the rain
Twisted and insane
We, are, holdin' onto nothing
Feelin' every breath
Holdin' no regrets
We're, still, lookin' out for something
Standin' in the rain
Twisted and insane
We, are, holdin' onto nothing
Feelin' every breath
Holdin' no regrets
We're, still, lookin' out for something
Standin' in the rain
Twisted and insane
We, are, holdin' onto nothing
Feelin' every breath
Holdin' no regrets
We're, still, lookin' out for something
Standin' in the rain
Twisted and insane
We, are, holdin' onto nothing
Feelin' every breath
Holdin' no regrets
We're, still, lookin' out for something
Standin' in the rain
Twisted and insane
We, are, holdin' onto nothing
Feelin' every breath
Holdin' no regrets
We're, still, lookin' out for something
The song "Holding on to Nothing" by Dave Pearce reflects on the power of human connection, both physically and emotionally. The first stanza highlights the intensity of their touch and how it sparks something within them. Their breath together makes them feel like they are the only ones in the world, and everything else fades away. The chorus emphasizes the need for their partner to stay with them, both physically and emotionally as they surrender their hearts to each other. When they are falling, crying, and broken, they need someone to comfort them. The second verse talks about how they find release and peace with each other even in the darkness, and they can trust each other with everything they need.
The chorus repeats, but the bridge adds another dimension to the song. They are standing in the rain, twisted and insane, and holding onto nothing. Despite feeling every breath and holding no regrets, they continue to look for something more. They are aware of the fleeting nature of life and relationships, but they still hold onto the hope of finding something that fills the void. The song ends with the repeated chorus, leaving the listener with a sense of hopeful yet uncertain anticipation.
