Strange World
Dave Pearce Lyrics

Ship of white light in the sky
Nobody there to reason why
Here I am, I'm not really there
Smilin' faces ever so rare
A let's walk in deepest space
Livin' here just isn't the place
Stalks of light come from the ground
When I cry there isn't a sound
All my feelin's cannot be held
I'm happy in my new strange world
Shades of green grasses twine
Girls drinkin' plasma wine
A look at love, a dream unfolds
Livin' here you'll never grow old, ooh yeah
Don't you hear me call?
Ooh ooh ooh
Livin' here is not what it seems
Ship of white light in the sky
The lyrics to Dave Pearce's song "Strange World" describe a surreal and otherworldly experience. The singer describes living in a place that "isn't what it seems," where a "ship of white light in the sky" flies overhead and there is "nobody there to reason why." The singer feels disconnected from reality, describing themselves as "not really there" and encountering "smiling faces ever so rare." They yearn to escape this strange world and "walk in deepest space" because "living here just isn't the place." However, there are moments of beauty and happiness in this world, with "stalks of light" and "shades of green grasses" providing a backdrop for drinking "plasma wine" and experiencing a dreamlike love. The singer feels free and unencumbered in this new world, but also longs to be heard and acknowledged by those around them.
The lyrics of "Strange World" can be interpreted in many ways, but one possible interpretation is that it is a metaphor for feeling disconnected or alienated from society. The ship of white light and the strange world represent a sense of otherness or difference that the singer experiences, while the smiling faces ever so rare suggest a lack of understanding or acceptance from others. The stalks of light and shades of green grasses represent moments of beauty and wonder that can be found in life, even in the midst of feeling disconnected. Ultimately, the song expresses a longing to be heard and understood, even as the singer finds temporary refuge in their strange world.
