Bowie developed an interest in music from an early age. He studied art, music and design before embarking on a professional career as a musician in 1963. "Space Oddity", released in 1969, was his first top-five entry on the UK Singles Chart. After a period of experimentation, he re-emerged in 1972 during the glam rock era with his flamboyant and androgynous alter ego Ziggy Stardust. The character was spearheaded by the success of Bowie's single "Starman" and album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, which won him widespread popularity. In 1975, Bowie's style shifted towards a sound he characterised as "plastic soul", initially alienating many of his UK fans but garnering him his first major US crossover success with the number-one single "Fame" and the album Young Americans. In 1976, Bowie starred in the cult film The Man Who Fell to Earth and released Station to Station. In 1977, he again changed direction with the electronic-inflected album Low, the first of three collaborations with Brian Eno that came to be known as the "Berlin Trilogy". "Heroes" (1977) and Lodger (1979) followed; each album reached the UK top five and received lasting critical praise.
After uneven commercial success in the late 1970s, Bowie had three number-one hits: the 1980 single "Ashes to Ashes", its album Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps), and "Under Pressure" (a 1981 collaboration with Queen). He achieved massive commercial success in the 1980s starting with Let's Dance (1983). Between 1988 and 1992, he fronted the hard rock band Tin Machine before resuming his solo career in 1993. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Bowie continued to experiment with musical styles, including industrial and jungle. He also continued acting; his roles included Major Jack Celliers in Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence (1983), Jareth the Goblin King in Labyrinth (1986), Pontius Pilate in The Last Temptation of Christ (1988), and Nikola Tesla in The Prestige (2006), among other film and television appearances and cameos. He stopped touring after 2004 and his last live performance was at a charity event in 2006. In 2013, Bowie returned from a decade-long recording hiatus with The Next Day. He remained musically active until his death from liver cancer at his home in New York City. He died two days after both his 69th birthday and the release of his final album, Blackstar (2016).
During his lifetime, his record sales, estimated at over 100 million records worldwide, made him one of the best-selling musicians of all time. In the UK, he was awarded ten platinum, eleven gold and eight silver album certifications, and released 11 number-one albums. In the US, he received five platinum and nine gold certifications. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996. Rolling Stone ranked him among the greatest artists in history. As of 2022, Bowie was the best-selling vinyl artist of the 21st century.

Too Dizzy
David Bowie Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Too much mist in front of my eyes
I'm not trying to lose control
But you're just pushin', pushin', pushin' for a fight
You look trapped, turn the radio on
Too much smoke, air conditioning gone
But I'm helpless in love with you
Is it love or is it what?
Who's this guy I'm gonna blow away, hey
What kind of love is he giving you?
I'm a dizzy's, what I'm trying to say
I said, too dizzy you can't have a lover
I'm too dizzy, it's me or no other
I'm a bad loser, I'm a shakin' in anger
I'm a too dizzy, you can't have no lover
You can go on dreaming every night
But I'm not letting you out of my sight
I'm a ten times the man than any guy around
But you're just itchin', twitchin', itchin' for a break
There's too much talking for a night drive
And too much mist in front of my eyes
But I'm helpless in love with you
But you're just looking, looking, looking for a break
Is it love or is it what?
Who's this guy I'm gonna blow away
What kind of love is he giving you?
I'm a dizzy's, what I'm trying to say
I said, too dizzy you can't have a lover
I'm too dizzy, it's me or no other
I'm a bad loser, I'm a shakin' in anger
I said I'm a too dizzy, you can't have no lover
I said too dizzy, don't come any harder
I said I'm too dizzy, don't come any closer
I said I'm too dizzy
I said too dizzy, too dizzy, too dizzy
Too dizzy, you can't have no lover
Too dizzy, I'm too dizzy
I'm too dizzy
In the song "Too Dizzy," David Bowie sings about the turmoil and confusion he feels in a romantic relationship. The lyrics describe the challenges of trying to maintain control in a relationship that is constantly pushing him to his limits. The song starts with Bowie expressing his frustration at the constant talking and mist that makes it difficult to focus on driving. He fears losing control, but his partner is only looking for a fight. Bowie is trapped in love and unable to escape, even though his partner is constantly searching for something better.
The chorus of the song is a plea to his lover to choose him over anyone else. Bowie argues that he is the better man and that his lover won't find anyone else like him. He is a bad loser and filled with anger, but his love for his partner keeps him dizzy and unable to let go. The final verse is a desperate cry for his lover to stay with him and not to come any closer. Despite his protests, Bowie ultimately concedes that he is too dizzy to let go of his lover.
Overall, "Too Dizzy" is a vulnerable and reflective illustration of the struggles that can arise in a romantic relationship. Bowie's lyrics show his frustration, confusion, and desperation to maintain the love he feels for his partner, even when it causes him pain.

Seems to have "Let's Spend The Night Together" vibe in some parts. I'm just now hearing parts of it...and it sounds great!

This whole album is kind of odd in my opinion, with the exception of “Time Will Crawl” and “Beat of Your Drum”. Those 2 tracks 100% sound like Bowie and completely stand the test of time.

You can actually hear that he didn't even wanted to sing & record that song...he still performes in his style & quality but you hear him rushing somehow...like he can't wait till the song is over but maybe its only me feeling that way

Way better than "Shake It" or half of the stuff on Tonight!
Far from his best, but also far from his worst! Definitely better than "New York's in Love" and "Bang Bang" on the same album (haven't listened to the whole thing yet, but it's neither the best or worst on the disc).
