Underground
David Bowie (из к\ф Лабиринт) Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

No one can blame you for walking away
But too much rejection, uh huh...
No love injection

Life can be easy
It's not always swell
Don't tell me truth hurts, little girl
'Cause it hurts like hell

But down in the underground
You'll find someone true
Down in the Underground
A land serene, a crystal moon

A-ha

It's only forever
Not long at all
Lost and Lonely
That's underground, underground

Daddy, daddy, get me out of here
Heard about a place today
Nothing ever hurts again

Daddy, daddy, get me out of here
Heard about a place today
Nothing ever hurts again

Sister, sister, please take me down,
gotta get underground

Overall Meaning

David Bowie's song "Underground" from the movie "Labyrinth", speaks of a place of refuge, a safe haven that can be found underground where someone true and a land serene is. The lyrics speak of the pain and rejection that can be found above, but below, you can escape all that hurt. The lyrics admonish us to find solace and truth in a place where there is no deception or rejection. It's just forever, and nothing can hurt anymore. It's a cry for emotional healing and refuge from a world that can at times be harsh and unforgiving.

No one can convince me that David Bowie didn't love this movie as much as we do. This video is literally a back story for his own character. Thats freaking dedication.

Natty Lopez I have. 😂😂 Quite a few times. I would watch the documentary on repeat as a child. How nerdy is that??????? Lololol

If you watch the behind the scenes, you can tell that when he laughs, it's honest and genuine, and he loved what he was doing and it makes my heart melt every time.

@MaskedMan66

He wasn't a Goblin King, so the movie is not literally about him.

Its so sad we live in a world without David Bowie and Jim Henson. I always loved Labyrinth but watching these videos now is so much more poignant. Bowie will live on through his music, his art and his legacy. And Jim Henson was a magical soul who made childhoods amazing. They were gifts to the world, both of them.

Amen.

@DannyDiess

Im crying right now. omg it is the end of days without Bowie.

At nearly 45 years old and after all this time, this is STILL one of my favorite movies and soundtracks. I was a kid when this was released and it was my comfort zone and this movie has stood the test of time. 💜🙏💜🙏💜🙏💜
