The moon burned orange
The moon was an orange color

A flickering crescent glowed incandescent
The moon was a crescent shape and was glowing brightly

In the dim light it shone
The moon was shining in the dim light of the grove

On the figures of our
The moon was shining on the figures of

Father and mother, and faces of others
The figures were of the artist's father and mother, as well as others the artist once knew

There in the grove
The figures were in the same grove the singer arrived at earlier

Soil was churning, roots began stirring
The soil in the grove was being churned and the roots of the trees were also moving

Shuffling slow
The movement of the soil and roots was slow

Withering leaves
The leaves on the trees were wilting or dying

Trembling tree-things twisting towards you
The trees were trembling and reaching towards the person who was alone

Calling "come home"
The trees were making a sound that resembled a call to come home

Frail branches found you and wrapped all around you
The frail branches of the trees found the lonely person and wrapped around them

Bending your bones
The tree branches were putting pressure on the person's bones

You opened your mouth
The person opened their mouth

Yawning and gaping, only silence escaping
The person was only making a soundless yawn or gaping motion

I heard not a groan
The person did not make any audible sound

Two trees stood alone
At the end of the experience, there were only two trees remaining
