sauce
Dawn Richard Lyrics

In more ways than you hoppin' in your car to come and see me, believe me
I done cleaned the spot and put on your favorite panties
The one you say look like Diamond's from Players Club, I'm wylin'
You know I'm wylin', yeah
Red Bottoms, La Perla
Hair touching your shoulder
Do you 'til that sauce is all over
Let it fall on me
Let it, let it fall on me
(Let it fall on me)
It's the weekend and I'm greedy, I've been a good girl all week
So I can dirty them sheets from Friday to Sunday, no breaks
I'm ready to ride you like I'm 'bout to win a prize at the Kentucky Derby
I'm your jockey, you heard me
Red Bottoms, La Perla
Hair touching your shoulder
I'm going to work like Rihanna
Do you 'til that sauce is all over
'Til that sauce is all over
Don't be stingy when I'm greedy
I need you to let it fall on me
(Let it, let it, let it, let it, let it, let it, let it, let it)
(Let it, let it, let it, let it, let it, let it, let it, let it)
Let it fall on me
(Let it, let it, let it, let it, let it, let it, let it, let it)
Let it fall
(Let it fall on me)
Let it fall on me
Let it fall on me
Let it fall on me
It's the weekend and I'm ready for you
You don't need to be gentle, I can take all of you
It's the weekend and I'm ready for you
You don't gotta rush, you can take your time to let it
(Let it, let it, let it, let it, let it, let it, let it, let it)
Let it
(Let it, let it, let it, let it, let it, let it, let it, let it)
Let it fall on
(Let it, let it, let it, let it, let it, let it, let it, let it)
Make it fall on me
(Let it fall on me)
Make it fall on it me
(Let it, let it, let it, let it, let it, let it, let it, let it)
Make it rain on me
(Let it, let it, let it, let it, let it, let it, let it, let it)
Yeah, yeah
(Let it, let it, let it, let it, let it, let it, let it, let it)
(Let it fall on me)
Fall, fall, fall
Only for you
Fall, fall, fall
Fall, fall, fall
Nobody else but for you
Fall, fall, fall
In "Sauce," Dawn Richard sings about preparing for her lover's arrival on the weekend, and her eagerness to let loose and get dirty. She sets the mood by cleaning and wearing her partner's favorite panties. Richard then speaks about her lust and eagerness, suggesting that she can't wait for the weekend to come as she wants to "dirty them sheets from Friday to Sunday, no breaks." She expresses that she is his jockey, ready to ride him like a horse, comparing her desire to winning a prize at the Kentucky Derby. As the song progresses, Richard urges her partner not to hold back and to let loose in the bedroom. She compares herself to Rihanna, implying that she is ready to work hard to ensure the sauce is all over.
The lyrics are primarily concerned with sex and lust, with Richard expressing her desire for her partner to let go and release all inhibitions. The most prevalent image throughout the verses is that of sauce, which is presumably used as a metaphor for sexual pleasure. Richard suggests that she is eager to experience it fully and encourages her partner to do the same.
One of the key themes of "Sauce" is empowerment through sexuality, with Richard unapologetically expressing her desire and expectation for sexual fulfillment. By equating herself with a jockey at the Kentucky Derby, she positions herself as the one controlling the pace and ultimately crossing the finish line first.

A New Orleans gospel group she sampled In this song sued her! Tbh lol they kinda took advantage of her because it’s an independent release, if anything they should have praised her for using there song as inspiration! If it was a white artist they would have allowed it!

Some kind of copyright issues apparently with the original version- I think I heard that a sample used in the original wasn’t cleared. This version is re done so I’m not sure why it’s so hard to find now and has been removed from many platforms again 🤷🏾♀️ love this song though ❤
