Dillinger, like many of his peers, signed record deals with Death Row after being introduced to Dr. Dre by Warren G just as Dre began recording his seminal 1992 album, The Chronic. Dillinger contributed to The Chronic as well as his cousin Snoop Doggy Dogg's multi-platinum Doggystyle , Tupac Shakur's All Eyez on Me and the majority of the label's multi-platinum releases.
He released his first album Dogg Food with Kurupt as Tha Dogg Pound which went multi-platinum continuing Death Row's force as the most successful hiphop label. After Dr. Dre left the label, Daz became Death Row's main producer and was largely involved in Snoop's sophomore album Tha Doggfather and various compilations and soundtracks. After the death of Tupac Shakur, the departures of Snoop Dogg, Kurupt, Nate Dogg and the imprisonment of label CEO Suge Knight, Daz was the only major artist left on Death Row and mainly responsible for the work done in the label. In 1998 he released his solo-offering Retaliation, Revenge and Get Back for the first time using the more commercial-friendly artist name Daz Dillinger and even though the album reached gold status it was considered to be a commercial failure for the still high standards established by Death Row's previous releases.
Around 2000 Daz left the crumbling Death Row records and started his own imprint DPG Recordz. He released his second solo-album 2000's R.A.W. independently. Although the album didn't reach the success of his Death Row releases the album gained cult status in the underground West Coast rap scene. After that, Daz has kept on his business as CEO of his record label and has released several EP's and LP's with his name.
In 2002 Daz and his long time friend Kurupt parted ways because the latter rejoined Death Row and Daz's "arch-enemy" Suge Knight. Since that Daz and Kurupt have each released several dis records aimed at each other.
On April 13, 2005, Daz reunited with Kurupt through the peace meeting labelled "Protect the West", in which several other West Coast rap icons united to put aside their differences in hope of succeeding together.
Daz released an album on Jermaine Dupri's So So Def label titled 'So So Gangsta ' which's was released September 12, 2006

C'mon, whassup nigga...
Ride over here on the dope side...
Clockin like a muh'fucka yaknow?
Let loose!
[Daz]
Time goes by, whether ya to' off or livin fly
And I wonder why - when I decide the time'll find
Turnin earth into meantime, then catch me on the grind
What's mine, is bout mine - let it be known
For those who won't know and don't know, if we don't tell 'em
They ain't usin me but usually it's somethin I can sell 'em
[Chorus]
I'd rather lie to ya, then sell ya hope
Ain't nothin I could tell ya so I'll sell ya dope
I said I'd rather lie to ya, then sell ya hope
Ain't nothin I could tell ya so I'll sell ya dope
(Put ya flag in ya hand)
[Daz]
Children come into the world with no, state of mind
Then mind state of mankind is that of earth - blind
From the time ya born till ya gain consciousness
ya loose it all, tryna prove it all
Mom and pops told me, "Son it'll be days like this"
But they never told me I could get paid like this
High risk, where my neck on the line
For the chips, get paid, get put in the twist, get sprayed
She pray; what else can she do?
Cops came to the door with four pictures of me bouncin with a .22
I guess that's life and then ya die
That's why we get high, cuz when ya gone bye bye.. (see ya)
And I ain't never seen a person that died again
And ya wonder why we finna go ride again
That was then, and this is now, and this is how
we execute our plans, nowadays it goes down
Ya flip a pound, ya work a bird, ya work the curb
They watch ya spot, they watch ya spot where ya serve that juice sweet
Just to get niggaz off the street
I got caught up in the mix went to the county and shit
Back on the street tryna figure out well if they hit first
Click your heat or take your beater or I can spit me a verse
Whichever happen, cappin, rappin, sellin sacks and mackin
I make it happen, nigga I make it happen
[Chorus]
[Daz]
Will we quit? Nah I don't think so - no
We're remainin gangbangin, keep sellin this dope
We're remainin gangbangin, keep sellin this dope
We're remainin gangbangin, keep sellin this dope
[???]
I got all the homies at (Eastside!)
If you blue or red raggin (Westside!)
Walk around witcha flag in the air (Oooh! Oooh! Oooh! ...)
Put ya flag in ya hair
Where all y'all homies at? (Eastside!)
If you blue or red raggin (Westside!)
Walk around witcha flag in ya hand (Oooh! Oooh! Oooh! ...)
Put ya flag in the air

[Daz]
It's eastside, westside gangbangin, on a daily
Flag hangin out ya pants, nigga life on ya last chance
One more stripe to lock it down till ya dead
Caught a felony case, made bail and then fled
Got caught up, a year or so later
with some player hater nigga tryna slang and got you claimin his game
What a shame; this game - I let it be known
For those who don't know and won't know, if we don't tell 'em
They ain't usin me but usually it's somethin I can sell 'em...
[Chorus]
[Daz]
Will we quit? Nah I don't think so - no
We're remainin gangbangin, keep sellin this dope
We're remainin gangbangin, keep sellin this dope
We're remainin gangbangin, keep sellin this dope
[Tray Deee talking]

The song "I'd Rather Lie 2 Ya" by Daz Dillinger featuring Tray Deee, Big C-Style, Big AD, and Soopafly is a rap song that talks about the gritty realities of life on the streets. The song presents a harsh view of life through lyrics that illustrate a daily struggle to survive in a world where one has to make difficult decisions to stay alive. Throughout the song, Daz emphasizes that he would rather lie to people than sell them false hope because he believes that the truth is that one has to sell drugs to survive in the neighborhood.
The lyrics in verse one depict how life goes on regardless of whether someone is living well or not. Daz emphasizes that there is a lot to gain and lose. In the chorus, Daz indicates that in the harsh world he lives in, he has no hope to offer people. He, therefore, chooses to sell them drugs instead of lying to them. In verse 2, Daz uses a metaphor to look at the world's state of mind, stating that people come into the world with no idea and are ruled blindly. He talks about the cards that life has dealt him, including being arrested and bailed out or losing people to gang violence.
Overall, the song is a reflection of the cyclical nature of life in the ghetto, where people get stuck in cycles of drug dealing, violence, and poverty. The lyrics suggest that there is little hope for escaping the cycle and that one has to choose their path, either surviving or succumbing to the life.
