단순 영어로만 해석하면 영화의 감동이 온전히 전해지지
못해 감독의 의도를 반절만 전달 받을 수 있기에 번역은
아주 중요한 부분입니다.

I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for posting this film in 1080HD, I have the DVD as part of an Im Kwon-taek box set. It is one of my favorite films because it reflects two monks, one pious and one liberal/libertine drinking monk, yet both are on the same path to enlightenment. I saw this film first when I was a teenager on German TV and I have never forgotten it. Thank you again.

드라마와 영화 둘다보았습니다. 드라마도 좋지만 영화가 주제를 이끌어가는 연출력이 뛰어나고 촬영감독님의 샷 하나하나 버릴게 없습니다. 그리고 지산역을 맡은 전무송님의 연기또한 최고의 경지. 개인적 생각이지만 임권택감독 최고 영화는 서편제가 아니라 만다라라고 생각합니다.

저는 뒤늦게 임권택 감독의 <만다라>를 이렇게 찾아서 보게되었는데요 정말 감동적이네요 저도 <서편제>가 큰 흥행을 거두기는 했지만 "한국인의 한"을 그려내는 연출이 좀 작위적인 느낌이라 임권택 감독의 최고작은 아니라고 생각해요 임권택 감독의 최고작은 개인적으로 <만다라>, <씨받이>, <길소뜸>, <연산일기>, <취화선> 다섯작품을 꼽고 싶은데 <만다라>는 정적이면서도 아름다운 탐미적인 로드무비네요 화면이 어둡고 무거운 톤이지만 그것자체로 아름다운듯.. 다만 아쉬운건 영화속 스님들의 고담준론이 너무 관념적으로 들렸습니다 좀 더 삶의 본질에 충실한 직설적인 대화로 풀어냈으면 어땠을까 싶었네요 정일성 촬영감독이 잡아낸 아름다운 영상미와 임권택 감독의 군더더기 없는 연출, 두 스님의 번뇌를 그려내는 씬에서의 형식미도 인상적이었습니다 임권택 감독의 영화들 중에서 80년대 전성기 시절에 찍은 <씨받이>, <길소뜸>, <연산일기> 그리고 2002년에 찍은 칸느 영화제 감독상을 수상한 감독 인생 후반기 걸작 <취화선>을 가장 감명깊게 봤고 임권택 감독의 필모그래피를 대표하는 걸작들이라고 생각했는데 뒤늦게 <만다라>를 보게 됐네요 여운이 길게 갈것 같습니다 이제 <짝코>를 찾아서 보고 싶네요
