The result of this was De Infernali. It was never meant to be a real band or even a project but more or less only a way to get some publishing money from Dissection's label Nuclear Blast. All of the instrumental songs were written by Jon long before he met up with Damien. The songs "Ave Satan" and "Sign Of The Dark" were written by Damien himself and the rest of the songs were written by Jon, Damien and a friend of their's who helped them out in the studio. The album was recorded by no other than Dan Swanö who also did the vocals on "Sign Of The Dark". As soon as the album was released in 1997 the project was no more.

Either it's bugged or intended (my best guess was because I killed Yurgir).

My playthrough:
-> Made the bargain with the rat (got the quest marker on the map)
-> Killed Yurgir the Orthon through persuasion
-> Went to the Sharran Provision, but no Crystalline Lens
-> Went to the Sharr Statue's feet, but didn't trigger Lythindorr and the rats encounter.

Oh well, will do it on my next playthrough.

There is another route to get to the stash that doesn't require feather fall or taking fall damage. Outside Yurgir's little throne room, to the west (the right as you're exiting), there's a series of stones you can walk down . If you jump north, you end up on the same platform as jumping from the broken staircase.

BEST OUTCOME GUIDE (Get the stash AND loot Lyrthandor): Go to the base of the Shar statue and examine the book and the broken effigy by the ritual circle. This will spawn a rat, and you can accept it's bargain. Do so, and a marker will appear on your map just to the north-east of your location called "Sharran Provisions" <--- that's the stash. Now, the instant the conversation with the rat ends, enter turn-based mode - this stops time and allows you to target the rat before he runs away and all the rats de-spawn, preventing you from attacking them and being able to fight and loot Lyrthindor. Instead you want to shoot the fleeing rat with your crossbow, which starts the rat fight and leads to the confrontation with Lyrthandor.

Couple tips: Use Shadowheart's Spirit Guardians spell, then move all your party members to stand right beside her in the circle. Watch all the rats fry themselves in hilarious fashion. It makes the fight a joke.

Ask Lyrthandor who he is (Second dialogue choice) before saying "Sorry, there is no need for more violence!" (First dialogue choice) - Shadowheart like this and you get some approval.

Also keep in mind, if you kill Lyrthindor before fighting the demon, that finishes his contract and you can't talk him into killing himself, so if you still want to complete the quest involving Astarion where you need to kill the demon for Raphael, you will just have to manually attack the demon before talking to it, OR talk to the demon first and only then kill Lyrthindor.

I couldn't get it to work but I appreciate the tip. I was able to go into turn based mode, kill the rat, get the dialogue that they were coming for me, waited around a couple minutes and nothing happened. Checked the rat location by Yurgir's throne and those rats were gone.

The rat treasure for me was only 105 gold, and two alchemy ingredients, a hook and kin-rin hair pretty lame after the dialogue built it up. so now I'm going to try pissing the rat off so I can fight Lyrthindor since he drops s unique piece of gear.

I casted wall of fire while fighting the rats. The instant the fight is over, he spawned as a rat right into the wall of fire and instantly died because he seem to only have 1 hp before he transform back to human. Yeah this game has a lot of bugs. Tried 4 different ways for this to work. No matter what I do or if I kill any smaller rats, they don't ever spawn with Lythindor or whatever and they never come at me in waves. ONLY ONCE did the guy ever say "we're coming for you. All of us!" And that was when the rat ran away and then no rats ever came back. What a bad way to make this

I found out you will screw up the quest if you go directly down without talking to Yurgir first. I killed most of the rats but some of them got stuck trying to climb down a cliff. Was left with just a single dead rat in the summoning circle that did not transform and that I could pick up... and win the prize of a dead rat. First time talking to Yurgir I got some unique dialogue, Raphael appears and gives the sub-contractor speech, and they both leave/act like you told Yurgir you would solve his problem.

Still just a dead rat even after I killed the rats stuck on the cliff. 🙁

To everyone watching who plays on PS5. As of September 20th 2023, there is a guaranteed bug with no known workaround that prevents this quest from progressing. If you really want to do this quest, im afraid youre SOL until Larian patches it. Sadly despite the extra month wait, apS5 was clearly rushed. Act 3 is worse with the multitude of broken quests.

Holy shit, had to restart this so many times.
1) bargained with the rats, bad idea.
2) killed all the rats, Lythindor did not spawn, no cutscenes before or after and interacting with the thing again does nothing, just got XP.
3) Hit a rat, small dialogue like the video, go through combat again, he FINALLY spawns, killed him for his 2 drops
I forgoed bargaining and then killing the rat since it would have probably bugged out a fourth time and the loot looks like garbage anyway.

In case people are still looking for an answer I found a workaround if this bug is to trigger. Please read fully:

After reading and interacting with the alter the rat gets summoned. I then used animal speak to the rat and did every interaction except accepting the bargain. Then I engage in combat but instead of killing it, I knocked him out (you can find this in the passive tab). By doing so will end the battle and then you can turn off the passive and kill the rat which will then trigger an angry rat and then start the real illusion rat battle.

This worked for me and then eventually fought the last Justiciar. Hope this helped

I had similar problem. But I remembered that rat doesn't despawn just after conversation is over - it runs away. So I loaded back and after 2 attempts the solution I found is to enter turn based mode immediately after conversation is over. You can then attack rat and trigger full fight sequence while knowing location of secret stash.

If you have the game on PS5 it's glitches. HOWEVER save before you drop down, make CROSS SAVE IS ON, go to the BD3 on your PC load up the save, go down talk to the rat, it'll insult you THEN IMMEDIATELY START THE FIGHT. SAVE WITH CROSS SAVE THEN GO BACK ON YOUR PS5
