Push
Dead Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'll light up the umbra to make you shine
I'll be your skin your tan
Let's go camping by the trees
There's still a land for the free
One day I will capture your eyes
For this I won't apologise
I know it's all a dream
I know it's all a dream
Push, pull

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Dead's song Push are quite enigmatic and open to interpretation. At its core, the song seems to be about the idea of pushing and pulling in a relationship, and the push and pull of love and desire. The line "I'll light up the umbra to make you shine" suggests that the singer is willing to do whatever it takes to make their partner happy and help them shine. The metaphor of being someone's skin and tan suggests a closeness and a desire to be intimately intertwined. The mention of camping by the trees and the line "there's still a land for the free" suggest a longing for freedom and simplicity in the face of a complicated and messy world.

The lines "one day I will capture your eyes, for this I won't apologise" are particularly intriguing. It's unclear exactly what the singer means by this - are they talking about capturing a photograph or simply capturing their partner's attention and affection? The repetition of the line "I know it's all a dream" suggests that perhaps the singer is aware that their romantic dreams and desires may not be entirely grounded in reality. The final line "push, pull" reinforces the idea of the push and pull of desire and emotion in a relationship.

Overall, Dead's Push is a dreamy, romantic track that explores the complexities of love and desire. While the lyrics may be somewhat cryptic, the emotional tone of the song is clear and poignant, and the themes it explores are likely to resonate with anyone who has ever experienced the push and pull of romantic relationships.

Verse 1]
I've given up on society
Up on my family
Up on your social disease
I've given up on the industry
Up on democracy
Done with all your hypocrisy

[Pre-Chorus]
All of the chaos
And all of the lies
I hate it

[Chorus]
I'm wasting here, can anyone
Wash it all away?
I'm waiting here for anyone
To wash it all away

Wash it all away

[Verse 2]
I've given up on the media
Feeds my hysteria
Sick of living down on my knees
I've given up on morality
Feeds my brutality
Fuck what you think about me

[Pre-Chorus]
All of the chaos
And all of the lies
I hate it

[Chorus]
I'm wasting here, can anyone
Wash it all away?
I'm waiting here for anyone
To wash it all away

Wash it all away

[Bridge]
I won't change for you
And I can't take the pain
There's nothing you can do
And there's nothing you can say

[Solo]

[Pre-Chorus]
I've given up on everything
Up on everything
Up on everything

[Chorus]
I'm wasting here, can anyone
Wash it all away?
I'm waiting here for anyone
To wash it all away

Wash it all away

I'm wasting here with everyone
Just wash it all away
I'm waiting here for anyone
To wash it all away

Wash it all away

[Outro]
Wash it all away

I'm 51 and have always been a die hard metal head. I will die a metal head. When bands like this come out I'm like a teenager all over again. People hear me coming and when they see this little old lady get out of my truck they can't believe I'm thrashing to heavy metal. Rock on. I always will. Peace

You're not an "old lady" yet at 51. I'm 53 and that would make me an old man and, naa ! I ain't old yet. I've played drums in heavy metal bands since age 19 or 20. Yor only as old as you let yourself feel. Or maybe if you have an old man, then that would maybe qualify you as someones 'ol lady but cut it out, you can't make me feel old! Ha Ha.
