Blunt embarked on his solo career in 2011, releasing a set of albums as well as several EPs and singles. His full-length studio albums, The Narcissist II (2012), The Redeemer (2013), and Black Metal (2014), received attention and praise from various music publications.
Blunt has also hosted conceptual art exhibitions in the past, an example of this is a minimalist exhibition displaying a building site hoarding wall accompanied by a crowd dispersal alarm.[citation needed].
Blunt is also known for his playfulness and obfuscation. In 2015, he sent his bodyguard to accept his Philip Hall Radar Award at the NME awards. In 2016, he listed a toy Foxtons estate agents Mini Cooper filled with marijuana on eBay. At a New York concert, in March 2016, media guests were asked to check in under aliases that they had received with their ticket confirmations.
MOLLY & AQUAFINA
Dean Blunt Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
La la la la la la la)
Running through the streets
(?)
So i don't worry 'bout nothing
(I don't worry' bout nothing)
See i don't worry 'bout nothing
Lady don't go
It's not the way you should go
(La la la la la la la)
Cause you'll never be
The one i want you to be
Cause i know that person is me
Running through the streets
(?)
So i don't worry about nothing
(I don't worry about nothing)
La la la la la la
The lyrics of Dean Blunt's song "Molly & Aquafina" convey a sense of detachment and emotional unavailability. The opening lines sung in a repetitive la la la melody suggest a dreamlike, hypnotic state where the singer is running through the streets in a state of disconnection. The following lines echo this sentiment, as the singer asserts that they don't worry about anything, implying a sense of indifference towards their surroundings and relationships.
The chorus emphasizes this emotional aloofness when the singer tells their partner that they will never be the person they want them to be because the only person they want is themselves. The repetition of the phrase "I don't worry about nothing" throughout the song echoes the dissociative state the singer is in, suggesting they are self-absorbed and uninterested in forming meaningful relationships.
Overall, the song conveys a sense of detachment and self-absorption, contrasting the dreamlike atmosphere of the music with the cold, detached lyrics.
