In 2014, Dean successfully auditioned for the The X-Factor Australia. Out of all the contestants on the show, he had the highest number of singles on the iTunes charts including a no.1 with his performance of George Ezra's Budapest. Although ultimately coming second place to Marlisa, Dean was quickly offered a contract with Sony Music and released his debut single Coming Back on October 24, 2014.
Dean cites Airbourne, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, First Aid Kit, Joss Stone, Son House and Stevie Ray Vaughan as his musical influences.

Só tentei por uns 20 anos descobrir quem cantava essa música que curti muito nos anos 80. Há meia hora atrás, meu vizinho estava ouvindo justamente ela. Claro que atravessei a rua pra perguntar. Já estou curtindo. Obrigado por compartilhar.

Eu também estou tentando descobrir esta música a um tempão, desde os anos 80 talvez. Eu achava que era do B-52's, mas não era. Procurei a rodo "in la la" em tudo que é lugar. Exceto no YouTube. E aqui está!

Essa música eu curtia muito na Radio Bandeirantes FM de São Paulo em 1984/1985. Nessa época a rádio era foda,pena que depois de 1988 virou rádio popular. Deixou saudades
