Her 1987 debut album Out of the Blue spawned five charting singles on the Billboard Hot 100: “Only in My Dreams” (#4), “Shake Your Love” (#4), “Out of the Blue” (#3), “Foolish Beat” (#1) and “Staying Together” (#22). Gibson wrote and largely produced her own material; at 17, she became the youngest person at the time to write, produce and perform a number-one single with “Foolish Beat.” Second album Electric Youth, released in 1989, spawned another four charting singles: “Lost in Your Eyes” (#1), “Electric Youth” (#11), “No More Rhyme” (#17) and “We Could Be Together” (#71).

By her third album in 1990, Anything Is Possible, Gibson’s chart fortunes were diminishing; only the lead single, the album’s title track, made any headway, peaking at #26.
