Decker is a storyteller concerned with the chasm between how life is and how it could be. Speaking on the 2009 release of his debut album, "Long Days," Decker said about his music, "in every song I'm taking a moment and trying to work through it honestly and sincerely. That‘s all I‘ve got." Decker continues such work on his upcoming release, "Long as the Night," which he describes as "white boy gospel" - his second release from Sedona independent label Mescal Porch Records. Part gospel, part spaghetti western, part folk rock, the album features eerie organs, wailing choirs, and triumphant horns while bringing a larger, fuller band sound than his debut. "It's all about surrounding yourself with good people - musicians, friends, and family," said Decker regarding the fuller arrangement on the new album.
Having successfully completed a 4-state, 34-show west coast tour in the winter of 2009-2010 in support of "Long Days," Decker will begin touring again in the fall of 2010 to support the album's release.
"…a gritty acoustic retelling of life, relationships, and redemption." Santa Maria Sun, CA
"Decker's freshman release is full of grit, tunes with a simplicity that had me singing along on the first listen and a depth that had me hearing new things on the 10th listen." Dave Manning, The My Home is on the Road Show, KWMD Anchorage, Alaska
"More than merely a debut album, Decker’s “Long Days” is a tale of redemption structured around a narrative framework rife with poignant lyrics." Kudos, AZ

The Garden
Decker. Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It's coming down like fists of gold
And here's a dollar for your soul
as you lay down, play dead, don't make a sound
I liked it better when you remembered that you are god
Won't leave you out there in the cold
while you were draped in the king's clothes as you bathed in the sunlight's sweet rays, well
I liked it better when you remembered that you were whole.
First blood
It's raining down like chemicals
But don't you tell me you're afraid cuz some mad man sits in an office
I liked it better when you remembered you are the one
I liked it better when you remembered
you're stardust, you're golden, you're a billion year old carbon,
we've got to get ourselves back to the garden
Don't speak
There's not a word you need to say
It isn't like you didn't know how
To rise up from dark nights and coffins
I liked it better when you remembered that you are love
I liked it better when you didn't just do as you're told
I liked it better when you still remembered
you're spirit, eternal
the keys to the kingdom
we've got to get ourselves back to the garden
Dark night, dark song, soft light, sharp tongue
Long fight, long gone, long breath, come home
Dark night, heart song, soft light, sharp tongue
Long fight, headlong, wake up, come home
