From the honeymoon capital of the world, Niagara Falls, singer/composer/multi-instrumentalist/DJ/producer DEE, made the move to Montreal at the age of 18 where he built his home studio and completely destroyed his credit line....
Going solo in 2001, DEE went to work non-stop on his special blend of electro-pop and dance-rock. His 5-song EP released in 2003 snagged Hollywood attention landing DEE’s catchy songs in indie films and TV series including “Grey’s Anatomy”(ABC), “Punk’d” (MTV), “Roswell” (Fox), “One Tree Hill” (Warner Bros), “Tru Calling”(FOX), “Las Vegas”(NBC), “Ghost Whisperer” (CBC), “Joan Of Arcadia”(CBS), the Ford Edge commercial airing Winter/Spring 2007, and many more.
Closer to home, 5 songs by DEE have also been featured in Ricardo Trogi’s latest Canadian flick “Horloge Biologique”. It includes the first single and video from the album soundtrack “Let’s Have a Rendez-Vous” featuring the voice of Mel, a long-time collaborator of DEE.
Produced by DEE himself, his long awaited debut album has been released in Canada in March 2006. Lyrically playful and melodically ambitious, DEE’s power pop is filled with satisfying hooks that remain with you for days afterwards.

If Only

Her hair's the leaves
Roots are rivers
Rich as Thebes
Meet me there
At one-fifteen
Where do you like to go
When you can't sleep
I close my eyes
Play the part
Read the lines
Even when it's dark
Trace the glyphs
Where you left your mark
If only we could
Fund the arts
On the other side of midnight
On the other end of town
Soliloquies and cigarettes
And shuffling on the ground
The local mausoleum
Has a body on display
It was the finest broken guitar
Ever made
I would love you
Past the tomb
I would love you
In my womb
And if you lie
I lie too
That's true
I can't get my
Wick to start
But I'm convinced
God changed their heart
Every time
I see the sparks
If only we could
Fund the arts
On the other side of midnight
On the other end of town
Soliloquies and cigarettes
And shuffling on the ground
I hope you feel the friction
Every time I turn the page
Like the finest broken guitar
Ever made
If only we could fund the arts
In Dee's song "If Only," the lyrics evoke a sense of longing and desire for a deeper connection and a longing for creativity. The opening lines, "The wind's a brush, Her hair's the leaves, Roots are rivers, Rich as Thebes," paint a vivid picture of nature and its power and potential for inspiration. The mention of meeting at one-fifteen suggests a secret rendezvous, a place to escape to when sleep eludes them.
The next verse introduces a theme of performance and acting, with the lines "I close my eyes, Play the part, Read the lines, Even when it's dark." There is a desire to create and express oneself artistically, to trace the glyphs where the other person left their mark. The line "If only we could fund the arts" underscores the frustration with the lack of support for creative endeavors and the potential that could be unleashed if given the chance.
The second verse continues to explore the theme of the other side of midnight, suggesting a hidden world of soliloquies, cigarettes, and shuffling on the ground. The mention of the local mausoleum and the finest broken guitar ever made adds a touch of melancholy and a reflection on the fragile beauty of artistic expression. The declaration of love, past the tomb and in the womb, and the acknowledgement of lying if the other person lies as well convey a deep, unconditional connection.
Overall, "If Only" conveys a yearning for artistic freedom, the power of love, and the longing for a more significant connection that goes beyond societal constraints.
