For once, I recognize the pain in us
I swore I wouldn′t look the other way
I hear the sound, I hear that voice ringing in my ear
I've got nothin′ to fear
Lights out I could hardly be awoken
Dead weight, and I've got nowhere left to run
I hear the sound, I hear my voice saying
I wait for you to carry me in the night
I wait for you to carry me
I can't see it any other way
I can′t see it any other way
I can′t see it any other way
I can't see it any other way
I can′t see it any other way
I can't see it any other way
I can′t see it any other way
I can feel my heart is gonna change
I wait for you to care
I wait for you to care
I wait for you to carry me
I wait for you to care
Lights out, but my heart's still glowing
In "Lights Out," Deep Sea Diver sings about the conflict between wanting to move on from a painful experience and the need to confront it. The lyrics are about acknowledging and accepting one's pain and not shying away from it. The song begins with the metaphor of "lights out," which refers to the end of a relationship or the end of a chapter. The singer's heart is still glowing despite the darkness, indicating that there is still hope or a longing for something, even in the midst of the pain.
The singer then recognizes the pain within themselves and the other person, indicating an understanding that both parties have been hurt. The refrain "I wait for you to care" suggests that the singer is looking for validation and support from the other person but also recognizes that they might not receive it. The line "I can't see it any other way" signifies the inevitability of the situation and the need to confront the pain head-on.
The second verse continues the theme of being weighed down by the pain and recognizing that their hopes for the relationship have been shattered. Nevertheless, the singer is determined to face the pain and not shy away from it. The line "I wait for you to carry me in the night" suggests that the singer is searching for comfort and support from the other person, but also recognizes that they might have to face this pain on their own.
Overall, "Lights Out" is a poignant and emotive song that explores the complexities of moving on from a painful experience. It encourages listeners to be honest with themselves and face their pain head-on instead of hiding from it.

Such an underrated band. Can I also just point out how two different guitarists are doubling their solos LIVE and sounding huge? Pure talent from these guys

Jessica and crew are so good... criminally underrated.

Ok, I'm back for the 100th time since discovering this video in the last week. There's so much right with this song. Each instrument (vocals included) truly shines while not overpowering each other. That delicate balance is so difficult to achieve but they nailed it. I can't get enough!

I'm not much into drums, but this drummer makes this band so much awesome with his sense of rithm. The guitars are both calm and scary. The bass keeps everything together.

He is playing really generic stuff actually, but he and the bass player are providing a solid very simple backbeat to the more elaborate guitar and vocals.

Yeah drummers rythm is absolutely rock solid! Weirdly noticeable in this perfomance. Love how he is just casually playing it all with a jacket on too.

As a drummer myself it took a while to realize less is more. If he played more complicated licks or grooves it could totally ruin the song. I loveee the careful use of his bass drum to compliment the bass and driving accents on the hi-hat. Soooo tasty 🥁

My favorite song from an album full of great music, such as Impossible Weight. The last "lights out but my heart is still glowing" means so, so much to me. Thank you DSD, you guys don't know how much I needed this album and specially this song.
