They've been jamming together since they were 10 and 7, when their cousin Gregg Bissonette taught them Eight Days A Week. Their music is a blend of rock, pop, power-pop, and alternative—high-energy, melodic, and fun, with a hint of old school punk edge.
They are half Indian and half Southern Californian, and they’ve lived in California, New York, Switzerland, and France, and they’ve spent a lot of time traveling. Their eclectic background makes its way into their musical style, and keeps them interested in people and places. Influences range from Green Day, to Oasis, to Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Matchbox Twenty, the Who, Alanis Morissette, the Foo Fighters, the Kinks, and to European bands including Kyo, Wir Sind Helden, and the Arctic Monkeys.
Sarah and Stephanie are pastor’s daughters, and in 2002 they moved with their family to Switzerland, where they helped start a church. While they were music leaders there, they joined some of their friends to form a cover band called the Bandits.
They also joined Gregg Bissonette in a few of his drum clinics in Western Europe. Sarah and Stephanie have played together in clubs, festivals, churches, and other venues in Switzerland, France, Germany, New York, and California.
Now in the Sacramento area, they're called Deer Park Avenue, named after the street they walked down every day growing up on Long Island. Their debut EP, “City Streets,” was recently released digitally on iTunes and other major retailers. It was recorded by Matt Bissonette, who co-produced the album with them. You can hear him on bass and backing vocals. Their song “Rescue Me” was featured on the Indie Top 100 Friend Vote for 10 weeks.
They're currently gigging in support of their new EP, as well as working on their next record, which will be out next year.
