Default were initially discovered by Chad Kroeger of Nickelback. Impressed by the band, Kroeger aided Default wherever possible by taking them on tours, co-writing songs, and producing material. Default have since progressively distanced themselves from Kroeger's influence over the years.
Default's hit single "Deny" was featured in the 2003 iteration of EA Sports' NHL video game series which help them gain even further exposure. Having already amassed an adequate fan base and frequent radio airplay in their native Canada, they managed to gain popularity in the United States for their hit singles "Wasting My Time" and "Deny" from their first album The Fallout. Default's first and second albums were produced with the help of Chad Kroeger, who would later reduce his involvement by only co-writing one song for their third album "One Thing Remains". Despite the significant success of the singles from The Fallout, Their follow-up albums Elocation and One Thing Remains failed to gain the same amount of popularity and radio airplay in the United States as their debut. Elocation was mostly successful for their hit single "(Taking My) Life Away" which was played extensively on the radio and television in Canada. Their second single from "Elocation" was "Throw It All Away", which was then followed by "All She Wrote". The single "Count On Me" from their third album One Thing Remains was a hit on Canadian radio before the album was even released. The Band also had their song "The Memory Will Never Die" featured on WWE's Wrestlemania.
Default's fourth album, which was originally planned to be released in 2007, had suffered significant delays and setbacks due to issues with their record label TVT, which eventually went bankrupt and was sold to an independent label known as The Orchard. Back on a new label, Default's fourth album "Comes and Goes" to be released in September 2009 via EMI Canada Records, with the first single being "All Over Me".

Little Too Late

Maybe it's true
Maybe I didn't do enough to hold onto you
Maybe you'll think back
On the good times we had
Maybe one day this feeling won't remind me of you
It took some time now I know
I'm in this world all alone
Now I see it's over
Out of time
I wish I never said goodbye
For all the times that I never tried
I couldn't find your love when I lost my way
But as time went on and on
I denied we were meant to be
Now I'm dying cause I couldn't see
I threw it away
Now it's a little too late
It should have been easy
It seemed so hard
I could never say that we were better apart
I should have been the one to hold you
I should have been the one you run to
Turned around just in time to see a fading memory of you
It took some time now I know
It's a little too late
I'm in this world all alone
Now I see it's over
Out of time
I wish I never said goodbye
For all the times that I never tried
I couldn't find your love when I lost my way
But as time went on and on
I denied we were meant to be
Now I'm dying cause I couldn't see
I threw it away
Now it's a little too late
I remember when I said goodbye
I can't forget the tears that you cried
I pretend that I was over you
I let you go and I don't know why
You took some time now I know
I wish I never said goodbye
For all the times that I never tried
I couldn't find your love when I lost my way
But as time went on and on
I denied we were meant to be
Now I'm dying cause I couldn't see
I threw it away
Now it's a little too late
It's a little too late
It's a little too late
It's a little too late
Now it's a little too late
The song "Little Too Late" by Default is about someone who regrets letting go of a person they loved, and realizing too late that they made a mistake. The song starts with the singer admitting that he might have missed his chance with his loved one and did not do enough to hold on to her. He hopes that someday he will be able to dissociate his feelings from her. The singer then looks back on his past and realizes that he is now alone since he lost his chance. He regrets the times he never tried enough when he had the opportunity to keep his loved one. The chorus repeats that now it's too late to make things how they used to be.
The regretful tone is evident in the lyrics where the singer wishes he had never said goodbye and for all the times he never tried. He acknowledges that he lost his way and lost the love of his life. He also recognizes that maybe they were meant to be together, denied it for too long, and is now dying inside knowing that he threw away their love when it was still possible. The singer ends the song by repeating the chorus, insisting that it's a little too late to make amends.
Overall, "Little Too Late" by Default is a powerful ballad about lost love and regret. The song's lyrics capture the pain of losing someone special and realizing that one's mistake has taken away all chances for a second chance.

DEFAULT (2009) – LITTLE TOO LATE (Traducción)
Maybe I missed you
Quizás te extrañé
Maybe it's true
Quizás es verdad
Maybe I didn't do enough to hold onto you
Quizás no hice lo suficiente para retenerte
Maybe you'll think back
Quizás rememorarás
On the good times we had
Los buenos tiempos que pasamos
Maybe one day this feeling won't remind me of you
Quizás un día este sentimiento no me recordará a ti
It took some time now I know
Me llevó algún tiempo ahora lo sé
It's a little too late
Es un poco demasiado tarde
I'm in this world all alone
Estoy en este mundo totalmente solo
And now I see it's over
Y ahora veo que se acabó
Out of time
Ya es tarde
I wish I never said goodbye
Ojalá nunca me hubiese despedido
All the times that I never tried
Todas las veces que no lo intenté
I couldn't find your love when I lost my way
No pude encontrar tu amor cuando perdí mi camino
But as time went on and on
Pero mientras el tiempo siguió y siguió
I denied we were meant to be
Negué que estuviésemos predestinados
Now I'm dying 'cause I couldn't see
Ahora me muero porque no pude verlo
I threw it away
Lo eché a perder
Now it's a little too late
Ahora es un poco demasiado tarde
It should have been easy
Debería haber sido fácil
It seemed so hard
Parecía tan difícil
I could never say that we were better apart
Nunca pude decir que estábamos mejor separados
I should have been the one to hold you
Debería haber sido el que te abrazaba
I should have been the one you run to
Debería haber sido el que corría hacia ti
Turned around just in time to see a fading memory of you
Cambié justo a tiempo para ver desvanecerse tu recuerdo
It took some time now I know
Me llevó algún tiempo ahora lo sé
It's a little too late
Es un poco demasiado tarde
I'm in this world all alone
Estoy en este mundo totalmente solo
And ow I see it's over
Y ahora veo que se acabó
Out of time
Ya es tarde
I wish I never said goodbye
Ojalá nunca me hubiese despedido
For all the times that I never tried
Todas las veces que no lo intenté
I couldn't find your love when I lost my way
No pude encontrar tu amor cuando perdí mi camino
But as time went on and on
Pero mientras el tiempo siguió y siguió
I denied we were meant to be
Negué que estuviésemos predestinados
Now I'm dying cause I couldn't see
Ahora me muero porque no pude verlo
I threw it away
Lo eché a perder
Now it's a little too late
Ahora es un poco demasiado tarde
I remember when I said goodbye
Recuerdo cuando me despedí
I can't forget the tears that you cried
No puedo olvidar las lágrimas que derramaste
I pretended that I was over you
Fingí que te había olvidado
I let you go and I don't know why
Te dejé marchar y no sé por qué
You took some time now I know
Me llevó algún tiempo ahora lo sé
I wish I never said goodbye
Ojalá nunca me hubiese despedido
For all the times that I never tried
Todas las veces que no lo intenté
I couldn't find your love when I lost my way
No pude encontrar tu amor cuando perdí mi camino
But as time went on and on
Pero mientras el tiempo siguió y siguió
