Haddon began his recording career in the mid 90s with the Voices of Unity on the small Tyscot label. As the group leader for their three albums, Haddon expressed his forward looking musical view, merging elements of soul, hip-hop and funk in the group's Gospel music. VOU had some mild success on the Gospel charts, but by the late 90s Haddon was ready to move more clearly front and center as a solo artist. His first two solo albums, This is My Story and Chainbreaker continued his artistic development and made some moderate noise on the Gospel charts.
However, I’m not sure that even the devoted fan base he had been accumulating could have anticipated his late 2002 release, Lost and Found, his first on giant Gospel label Verity. A project as ambitious as Tonex’s noted debut, Pronounced Toe-Nay, Lost and Found is an exhaustive, inspired opus by a Gospel artist who, with its release, clearly declared himself a new Gospel star.
The disc begins sounding like a dance Gospel album, leading off with two funky numbers, “D.D.” and “Oh Yeah” (the latter featuring the ubiquitous Fred Hammond). From there it covers broad territory, including bluesy, southern soul (“Ain’t Got Nothing” and the radio hit, “Sinner’s Prayer”), Praise & Worship (“Worship Medley”), Prince-style electric soul (“It’s Me”), big ballads (“Stand Still”) and joyous calypso (“The Praises Go (Up, Up, Up)”). Haddon is literally bursting with musical ideas on the album and, amazingly, virtually all work. Equally impressive is the strong lyrical content of the disc – much of it autobiographical -- focusing principally on the power of redemption and the ability of faith to rescue lost or miscast souls.
It took me almost two months to review Lost and Found, mostly because it took so long to fully absorb such an ambitious project. Now I can clearly say that this stands, with Mary Mary’s “Thankful” and Tonex’s “O2,” as perhaps the definitive modern Gospel album of this decade, and is a must for both Soul and Gospel lovers.

Amen
Deitrick Haddon Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
For I reckon that the sufferings
Of this present time are not worthy
To be compared with the glory
Which shall be revealed in us
Listen
I asked myself how did he do it?
Make such a sacrifice
Wanted him crucified
Oh yea, he knew that his friends would betray him
And he knew that his blood would be shed
He coulda someone else in his place
But instead he said
Amen
[CHORUS:]
Amen
Mmm I surrender
Amen
And my will be yours
Amen
I lift my hands and say
Amen
So I looked at my tasks and trials
They can't compare to his pain
And if he can go through it
Surely I can do the same
Oh Lord
I bless you for all of the bad
And I bless you for all of the good
And the place where I stand
You have already stood
[CHORUS:]
Amen
Never the less Amen
Amen
I don't understand but Amen
Amen
Lord I surrender
Amen
My soul say Amen
Amen
This is not about me Lord
Amen
Oohh I've got your will
Amen
[END CHORUS]
Deitrick Haddon's song "Amen" explores the theme of surrendering oneself to God's will and trusting Him in both the good and bad times. The first verse references Romans 8:18, which speaks of the present sufferings being incomparable to the glory that will be revealed in us. Haddon then reflects on Jesus' sacrifice, knowing that his friends would betray him and his blood would be shed. Instead of choosing another way out, Jesus surrendered to God's will and said "Amen".
In the chorus, Haddon repeats the word "Amen" repetitive, expressing his own surrender to God's will and acknowledging that the journey may not always be easy to understand. He conveys the message that he is willing to face trials and tasks, inspired by Jesus' example, knowing that they cannot compare to his pain. The bridge emphasizes that surrender is not about one's own desires, but about having God's will as the priority above all else.
Overall, the song "Amen" is an anthem of surrender to God's plan, inspired by Jesus' willingness to surrender himself to his Father's will. It encourages listeners to trust in God and to put their faith in His plan, knowing that the journey will not always be easy.

Are not worth it

Amen
Amen, expressing agreement with God's plan
Mmm I surrender

And I want Your will to be mine
Amen
Amen, I agree with Your plan
I lift my hands and say
I raise my hands and express
Amen
Amen, I agree with You
So I looked at my tasks and trials
I consider my problems and difficulties
They can't compare to his pain
They can't compare to what Jesus endured
And if he can go through it
And if Jesus could endure
Surely I can do the same
Then I can surely endure.
Oh Lord
Oh Lord, I pray to You
I bless you for all of the bad
I thank You for all the hard times
And I bless you for all of the good
And I thank You for all the good times
And the place where I stand
And the place where I am now
You have already stood
You have already been there.
