[1] Delight is a Polish music band playing modern rock with elements of electronic music, and having a background in metal on their earliest albums. They are currently publishing their albums under Roadrunner Records.
The band was formed under the name SATOR in 1998 in Skawina, a small town near Cracow, Poland. The first line-up was: Paulina Maslanka - vocals, Jaroslaw Baran - drums & guitar, Sebastian Wojtowicz - guitar, Piotr Szymanski - bass and Tomasz Polczyk - keyboards. After a few-months' work the band recorded their first demo tape "...And Remember", released by the underground label Eternal Blackness (as a split record with AT DOMINE). Soon after the demo had been prepared, Daniel Kaczmarczyk joined the band on drums. In the renewed line-up the band worked on and recorded new material for a full-length album. After a year of preparation, the band was able to get 10 songs ready. These songs were to be included In the first LP by the re-named band, DELIGHT. Unlike with the first demo, the new songs were entirely composed, produced and recorded at a home studio by Jaroslaw Baran.

The Gates of the Green
Delight Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
To the gates of child's land
Fluffy moss under my feet
My hair talking with the wind
Drops of rain which have just fallen down
Like the pearls on conweb's cover
I ask who we are
Waiting for unquiet wind
A crooled mirror of space
A handful of ash which wants to
Become the diamond
Although the Time is mocking at us o openly
He is laughing at us
Setting its face against us
We are not able
To rule over the current of his stream
In my mind's eyes I see the trees
Which are trying to touch the sky
With their whispering arms
Old tales are being told by the bird
Just opening the arms is enough
To be soared up by the wind
Although the Time is mocking at us o openly
He is laughing at us
Setting its face against us
We are not able
To rule over the current of his stream
The Nature answers
We are what we believe
These lyrics from Delight's song "The Gates of the Green" paint a vivid picture of a journey through nature, and the musings and questions that arise during this journey. The image of soft, fluffy moss underfoot and hair "talking" with the wind depict a peaceful and serene natural environment. Drops of rain, like pearls on a spider's web, emphasize the beauty and fragility of nature. The song then shifts to deeper questions about identity and purpose, asking "who we are" amidst the "candle lights" and "crooked mirror of space." The lyrics suggest a desire to find meaning and transform something as ordinary as a handful of ash into a diamond.
The second stanza brings in the element of time, with the recognition that time can feel like an enemy, "mocking" and "laughing" at us as we try to navigate life's currents. Despite this, the natural world provides a sense of stability and grounding. The trees, with their "whispering arms," connect us to old tales and a sense of continuity. The lyrics end with a hopeful message, that we are what we believe, and in the context of nature, perhaps belief can also be aligned with the natural rhythms and cycles that surround us.
Overall, "The Gates of the Green" is a contemplative and poetic exploration of nature and our place within it. The lyrics are filled with sensory detail, evoking a sense of wonder and appreciation for the natural world, while also acknowledging deeper questions about identity and purpose.
