An actress, singer, talk show host, and author, the multi-talented Reese first started singing in church in her hometown of Detroit when she was six years old. By the age of 13, she was touring with gospel great Mahalia Jackson; then, at 18, she formed the Meditation Singers and became the first performer to bring gospel music to the casinos of Las Vegas. Reese expanded her musical repertoire as a vocalist with the Erskine Hawkins Orchestra and began recording albums, with such hits as "Don't You Know" and "And That Reminds Me" in the 1950s. She appeared extensively as a guest on the top television variety series, logging more than 20 appearances in one year on The Ed Sullivan Show on the CBS Television Network. Reese was nominated for a Grammy Award as Best Female Soloist in Gospel Music in 1987.
Tapping into her other skills, she was host of a television talk show in 1969-1970, then began guest-starring in such series as Sanford and Son, The A-Team, Crazy Like a Fox and Picket Fences. She starred in the CBS Network series Charlie & Co. and The Royal Family. Reese's current projects include a new album based on her 27-city tour with her revue, "Some of My Best Friends Are the Blues," as well as song on the Touched By An Angel Soundtrack. Her best-selling autobiography, "Angels Along the Way," is published by G.P. Putnam's Sons. Reese also starred in the telefilms Emma's Wish, with Joanna Kerns, and The Secret Path, with Ossie Davis.
There Will Never Be Another You
Della Reese Lyrics

And I'll be standing here with someone new,
There will be other songs to sing, another fall, another spring,
But there will never be another you.
There will be other lips that I may kiss,
But they won't thrill me like yours used to do,
Yes, I may dream a million dreams,
But how can they come true,
The song "There Will Never Be Another You" by Della Reese is a beautiful ode to a love that was once cherished. The lyrics speak of the inevitability of change and the transient nature of life. The first two lines of the song suggest that there will be many other nights like this, which implies that this night is not special or unique, and that life goes on. The singer of the song, however, is left reminiscing about a lost love, and how they will never be able to replace the person they once loved.
The song speaks of the fleeting nature of time, and how everything can change in a heartbeat. There are other songs to sing, other love stories to explore, and other relationships to build, but the love the singer felt will never be replicated again. The lines "There will be other lips that I may kiss, but they won't thrill me like yours used to do" are particularly poignant, as they reveal how the singer has experienced love before but has never felt the same way with anyone else.
The longing for another chance at love is captured beautifully in the lines "Yes, I may dream a million dreams, but how can they come true, if there will never ever be another you?" The lyrics are a bittersweet reminder of how love can sometimes slip away, but also an acknowledgment of the beauty of the love that once existed.

As my magic mirror fails me I will say how lucky those of us born in the 40's and 50's are to have enjoyed the greatest musicians and vocalists --- all without "auto-tune", just real performers! Della Reese is remarkable! Thank you
