Goodrem has to date achieved nine #1 ARIA singles and multiple UK Top 10 singles. Her debut album, 2003's Innocent Eyes, made her one of Australia's highest-selling female recording artists, spending 29 weeks at #1, and selling over a million copies in Australia and 2.5 million worldwide. While 2004's Mistaken Identity was unable to match the commercial success of its predecessor, it entered the ARIA charts at #1 and gained multi-platinum status. To date, Goodrem has sold 3.5 million albums worldwide. In 2005, she embarked on The Visualise Tour, her debut concert tour of Australia.
In 2003, at the age of 18 and amidst her blooming career, Goodrem was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, a form of cancer. She has since made a full recovery and now spends much of her time promoting cancer charities.
Goodrem was invited to write and sing the theme song of the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games. Named 'Together We Are One', the track was co-written with her ex, Brian McFadden and long-time collaborator Guy Chambers. 'Together We Are One' was not originally planned for release as a single, but due to Australian public demand, it was released and peaked at #2 on the official ARIA charts. She was later also invited to perform the theme for the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, with "Welcome to Earth".

Delta Goodrem Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
That day I went to numb the pain inside me
The emptiness was showing
The hate around me growing
I thought I had to bury my self-worth
The boulevard of broken dreams was building
The whiskey kept on turning into wine
Oh, where was all this going?
Then tried to pull the wool over my eyes
I've always been a lady
And that always saved me
I had to see the other side
My mama said, "Go marry rich, girl
It'll take your problems all away"
But I lead life with my heart
And the world's not always fair
I'm gonna make myself that billionaire
I've never been impressed with money or power
'Cause I thought I'd be the one to rule the world
So many men would tell me
It would be the gifts they gave me
But that just don't make them my Mr. Right
My name is Delta lady
You can't try to change me
I'll give you many reasons why
My mama said, "Go marry rich, girl
It'll take your problems all away"
But I lead life with my heart
And the world's not always fair
I'm gonna make myself that billionaire
He said, "Baby hold my hand"
I'm not your baby, understand
I'm gonna need a grown-ass man
Who takes me for who I am
My mama said, "Go marry rich, girl
It'll take your problems all away"
But I lead life with my heart
Though the world's not always fair
I'm gonna make myself that billionaire
Shake that wannabe
You're only gonna end up lonely
He's no good you see
The real ones love unconditionally
You got to shake that wannabe
You're only gonna end up lonely
The lyrics to Delta Goodrem's "Billionaire" delve into themes of self-worth, societal pressure, and the importance of staying true to oneself. The first verse reflects on a period of emotional turmoil, where the singer turned to alcohol to numb their pain and fill the emptiness within. As the hate around them grew, they felt the need to bury their self-worth. This suggests a struggle with low self-esteem and a belief that they needed external validation.
In the chorus, the singer recalls their mother's advice to marry someone rich to solve their problems. However, they reject this notion as they lead life with their heart and understand that the world isn't always fair. They express their determination to make themselves a billionaire on their own terms, emphasizing the importance of independence, authenticity, and pursuing their own dreams and desires.
The second verse highlights the singer's indifference towards wealth and power, as their focus has always been on wanting to make a positive impact and "rule the world" through their own actions and beliefs. They reject the notion that material gifts can define the suitability of a partner, indicating a desire for genuine connections based on mutual understanding and acceptance.
In the bridge, the singer asserts their independence and refuses to be controlled by someone who doesn't respect and appreciate them for who they are. They yearn for a mature, committed partner who accepts them fully and doesn't try to change them.
The final lines of the song serve as a reminder to not settle for superficial relationships, encouraging the listener to recognize the difference between genuine love that is unconditional and relationships driven by shallow intentions. By shaking off the "wannabes" who only bring loneliness, the singer reinforces the importance of seeking authentic connections and not compromising on one's values and self-worth.
Overall, the lyrics of "Billionaire" reflect Delta Goodrem's belief in staying true to oneself, rejecting societal pressures, and pursuing personal goals and relationships based on genuine connection and acceptance.

Thank You So Very Much
I didn't drink 'til I was 27
That day I went to numb the pain inside me
The emptiness was showing
The hate around me growing
I thought I had to bury my self-worth
The boulevard of broken dreams was building
The whiskey kept on turning into wine
Some people started asking
Oh, where was all this going?
Then tried to pull the wool over my eyes
I've always been a lady, yeah
And that always saved me
I had to see the other side
My mama said, "Go marry rich, girl"
It'll take your problems all away
But I lead life with my heart
And the world's not always fair
I'm gonna make myself that billionaire
I've never been impressed with money or power
'Cause I thought I'd be the one to rule the world
So many men would tell me
It would be the gifts they gave me
But that just don't make them my Mr. Right
My name is Delta lady
You can't try to change me
I'll give you many reasons why but
My mama said, "Go marry rich, girl"
It'll take your problems all away
But I lead life with my heart
And the world's not always fair
