Who bled and died to justify me.
I will stand and fight to justify you,
Who bled and died to justify me.
Force me down into hate.
Your freedom will stop when I can't breath.
I'm taking the path that I don't need.
Broken out and turned away.
Burned to the ground and change the face.
Bled to death and turned to gray.
Resurrect again to say.
I made my promise, and now I've fallen.
Through broken pieces I see you.
I will stand and fight to justify you,
Who bled and died to justify me.
I will stand and fight to justify you,
Who bled and died to justify...
Let me see it all die in front of myself so I can't lie.
A hollow design for the new side.
Exterior death for the old side.
This is the end of the last time.
Bury the old and say the name.
Break the mold and new remain.
Resurrect again to say.
I made my promise, and now I've fallen.
Through broken pieces I see you.
I made my promise, and now I've fallen.
Through broken pieces I see you.
I will stand and fight to justify you,
Who bled and died to justify me.
I will stand and fight to justify you,
Who bled and died to justify...
A lifeless body, a broken soul.
I fall to zero, I've lost control.
A lifeless body, a broken soul.
I fall to zero, I've lost control.
Lost control
I've lost control
Lost control (I've lost control)
I've lost control
I will stand and fight to justify you,
Who bled and died to justify...
I will stand and fight!
The song "As We Wept" by Demon Hunter is a powerful and emotional tribute to the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, and the singer's determination to stand with him and fight against hate and despair. The lyrics speak directly to Jesus, acknowledging his suffering and death on the cross to save humanity, and promising to stand for him and uphold his sacrifice. The repetition of the phrase "who bled and died to justify me" throughout the song underscores the singer's gratitude and reverence for Jesus' ultimate act of love.
The verses of the song suggest a struggle against forces of hate and destruction, perhaps representing the singer's own internal battles as well as the larger struggles of the world. The lines "force me down into hate" and "your freedom will stop when I can't breathe" suggest oppressive forces that seek to crush individuality and freedom, while "I'm taking the path that I don't need" and "taking the place so it won't bleed" suggest a determination to resist and rebel against these forces. The lines "resurrect again to say" and "through broken pieces I see you" hint at the possibility of redemption and renewal, even in the face of devastation and loss.
Overall, "As We Wept" is a poignant and intense statement of faith and resilience in the face of struggle and adversity. By anchoring the singer's personal struggles to the powerful narrative of Jesus' death and resurrection, the lyrics convey a sense of hope and possibility even in the darkest moments.
